Visible Equipment/Pack Brahmin

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 11:55 pm

I doubt it's included, but I was hoping to see the PC physically equip their equipment. Sure, you can see the weapon you have equipped, but what about your hotkeyed items? I can picture the PC with binoculars slung on their neck, a pistol holstered, one or even two longarms on their backs. Kinda like Red Dead Redemption. Besides, where are their other weapons stored? Really, really deep pockets? The same could be said about other items in the PC's pack - which brings up something. How about purchasing a pack brahmin? It would wait for you outside if you went indoors, be pretty durable, and triple or possibly quadruple your carrying capacity (if you've a companion). This would reduce time and resources retreating to a safehouse to replenish what you might've lost getting there.

Well, it's not quite what you want but I believe that uniforms with visible canteens on them will help you last longer without water in hardcoe mode.

Yeah, it would be nice to see your characters equipment. However, I suspect that the effort of making every weapon/tool visible with every armor would be extremely time consuming to implement. Though they probably could made side holstered weapons (i.e. pistols) visible without too much effort.

The whole pack brahmin idea seems a bit meh to me. It seems like it would get in the way during combat or slow you down, plus it seems pretty irrelevant because you can fast travel if you're inventory is getting full.

There's a mod for FO3 where you can see two weapons from your inventory on your back. Can't remember the name, but it worked nicely. Only thing was that DLC guns were not available (when I had it) so only vanilla guns were visible. And this was totally independent from armors. Of course clipping was present at times, though not a lot. It was like adding a powerpack from the gatling laser except for guns.

This has been brought up before, but the most I would want is the ability to see your pistol, rifle, and maybe your submachine gun visible if they are mapped in the first three hotkeys. Problem is, they can't do that for consoles. Maybe there will be a mod.

I can't imagine how this would work. You can carry hundreds of pounds in Fallout 3, I imagine you will be able to do the same in NV.

I just pretend the pipboy has a shrink-ray, and your belt has a gravity modulator. :fallout:

Exactly what I thought. On both counts. Like, just have hot keyed items shown, if weapons or secondary equipment. Also, have the pack Brahmin dictated by the companion wheel as well, and it will cut down on it's interference.

Even if all the weapons and extras are not visible, it would still be totally awesome if you could buy a pack Brahmin so you could carry alot more stuff. It would make the game feel much more realistic. It would be especially good for roving traders and scavengers.

The Brahmin idea to me is okay. It wouldnt be so bad to have the thing with you. BUT if you went inside a building to kill Raiders, your Brahmin would more than likely die outside. All your stuff would get looted and it leaves you VERY unhappy.

It is possible to hotkey 8 weapons and/ or items with your D-pad. (Xbox 360)

On topic: Having a brahmin would slow me down, but the idea of having more space and weight for my items sounds good however.

As for the visible weapons... this is an RPG, and has alot more items than your typical shooter, making every weapon visible would be a hard thing to do, at least that is what i imagine. I am satisfied either way though.
