Clarification for a Newbie

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 5:35 pm

Pardon me if this is old issue, I found a lot of info regarding this issue, but I'm having difficulty putting it all together so it makes sense to me, bear with me if get some stuff wrong.

Mer and men descend from a common race, which along with the Hist were the first sentient(?) races.

Then along come the Aldmer which branched out into the Altmer, Bosmer, Chimer, Falmer, Ayleid and Dwemer races.
The Chimer were turned into Dunmer by Azura
the Dwemer, Falmer and Ayleids disappeared
and some Aldmer were transformed into Orsimer/Orcs when Trinimac was reborn as Malacath.

Men on the other hand developed separately on separate continents:
Nords (Atmora), Redguards (Yokuda), Nedes and Kothringi (Tamriel) and possibly the Tsaesci (Akavir).

The Bretons were spawned from the interbreeding of indigenous humans (Nedic/Kothringi) and Aldmer.
The Imperials descended from the interbreeding of Nords and Nedes/Kothringi.

Did I get it right?

Tsaeci live for ever unless killed...so they are mer, but then again they haven't built and wheels or towers.

The Hist trees are the only type of living thing NOT descended from the Elnofey.

"Nede" refers to nords who came from places besides Altmora.

The Altmer are unchaged aldmer, which is why they think they are better than everyone.

Dwemer, Falmer, And Ayleids did alll disapear, but for ENTIRELY different reasons.

MK wrote once in the forums that the Tsaesci are "immortal vampire snakemen". They're probably not mer.

but mer do not live forever, so I don't see how you can make this statement.

Not to mention, their creation myths are very similar to mannish creation myths. In the metaphysical kind of senseish thing, it's the snakemen = men, and the tiger people = mer.

The Bosmer and the Khajiit are both reckoned "Forest People". They're presumably also descended from the Aldmer, but they took a very different turn from the Ayleid, Altmer, Chimer, and Dunmer branch. I believe it's said somewhere that they have "too much in common to leave each other alone". The Khajiit believe they were transformed by Azura, who bound them to the Lunar Lattice, giving them forms that depend on the phase of the moons when they are born.

I wouldn't say that the Ayleids and Falmer 'disappeared', as such, certainly not in the same sense as the Dwemer (who literally disappeared, or seemingly turned to ash).

The Ayleids saw which was the wind was blowing and dissipated into other provinces, like Valenwood (where they merged back in with indigenous merfolk) or High Rock (there's speculation that the Direnni might be descended from 'refugees' from Cyrodiil).

The Falmer were all killed by the Nords...probably.

The first Bretons were likely the result of mer slaveholders and mannish consorts.

Mer build towers, not men.

Wrong, they are descendants of Wandering Ehlnofey, so more related to men than mer.

"Nede" refers to nords who came from places besides Altmora.

No, Nedic peoples are native to Tamriel

Dwemer, Falmer, And Ayleids did alll disapear, but for ENTIRELY different reasons.

Ayleids as a race aren't extinct just they culture vanished and we don't know what the fate of Falmer is.
