Non-permanent war-paint...

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 12:45 am

You know, when thinking of it, wouldn't it be neat to be able to apply non-permanent war paint this way? Just a thought and I don't even know if this makes sense.

So this guy had, in my opinion a good idea. A non-permanent war-paint. It could hold some minor benefits or similar. What do the forum think?

so, would it just wear off after some time or stay on until you actively removed it?

While picking my vote "this guy" just thought what about yes.
I don't know if this may be possible, I want to add that it could be something that wears off (albeit slower), just like blood sticks unto the character (like we've seen in the screenshots) and wears off one way or another.

Another option is that it's semi-permanent but changeable, just like the haircut and beard you proposed in your other thread.

I think that will have to be discussed here. I'm fine with either, but the later would be more practical.

Torment: magic tattos.
It depends on if they make a slot item for their use..
If they make an enchantment effect lasting X, and can imprint a texture'd paint effect on the character.
If tattos are to be in, even in character gen.
If there can be an artist like Fell from Torment, or for those unfamiliar a doctor / barber like in FO3 and FO:NV.

Ok. I voted yes, but if it has any benefits or attributes, it should wear off at some point (unless you buy a rare and expensive semipermanent one), and if it's just for show, it should be semipermanent (as in, it's on until you decide to take it off or change it).

I think it could work like a potion(with an in-game animation, of course). It would have a long duration, but have the option to take it off. That is just an idea off the topp of my head, though.

If there were different kinds of ochre, one could apply different kinds of paint. Perhaps it could give you different benefits in battle. Then it would make sense that it wears off after a while.

I'm perfectly fine with a permanent face painting (or maybe just tattoos in that case).

I'd like to see them do this but I don't want bonuses from it.

+1. Would be awesome to apply woad before going into a battle between, say, the rivaling Nord factions. Or before venturing into a Dragon's lair/haunt. ^_^

The Nords already had a woad power, so in a roundabout sort of way, it's already in lore.

Ninja'd.

Im all for it, but why not have both? Have some warpaint be nothing more then decorative and have some that give you bonus's temporarily. Hell, Id even like to see some war paint be permanent, so you could enchant them for extra defense. Though to keep it balanced, whenever you enchant one of the permanent ones, you cant wear head gear. I personally never wear helmets any way because I like to see my character's head, so this would be an awesome way of getting around not having a helmet.

I'd just prefer to have a tattoo system akin to the original and second Fables' and leave it at that. Flame Fable as much as you want, Lionhead does tattoos right. Other than that I'm not too fussed about body mods. It's really not something I want BGS to agonise over.

You say the war paint more like a spell or more accurate like summoned armor except here it’s a warpaint design that does things like increase strength or demoralize enemies and would work like an enchanted item. After some time the effect and the paint goes away.
Would not be something you ask a barber to do as the effect is temporary, more like a spell or perhaps a potion with paint would be better.

If not implemented it sounds possible for a moder to do.

I like that option because I think it could extend to visible wounds/scars that your character could carry until you decided it was time for them to "heal." "Barbers" could add/remove paint and scars, as well as provide haircuts. Paint could even serve as a form of disguise, implying that you belonged to a faction you didn't really belong to.

Do mean gets washed in the water and reapply it when it does? That is kind of neat but kind of too much hassle. I like the whole staying on "until you take it off" idea
