"Script nolore..."

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:41 pm

When having the dialogue with the outlaw http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Fjol close to Hla Oad I get this warning:

Script noloreTrying to RunFunction index greater than function countThe script will not run anymore.==>CompileAndRun problem was found in Topic "murderous outlaws"

Does anyone have an idea what might cause it or how to easiest check it? I got a very similar warning when having the dialogue with Gaenor before the fight with him.

I seem to remember that "Trying to RunFunction index greater than function count" had to do with using the wrong version of MWSE. See Fliggerty's post http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?act=findpost&hl=&pid=14611660.

Thanks. Hm, weird. I'm using MGE's internal MWSE and the MWSE dependent mods work as they should. Can't see why any of them (Improved Teleportation etc.) should interfere with these dialogues. I'll keep it in mind if it should happen again.

This message more generally means that a mod is using functions that are not supported by the master files that are loaded. If you have ruled out MWSE as the cause, it is probably triggered by some Tribunal function being used in the results section of a dialog entry under 'murderous outlaws'. I expect you are using the expansions so you do not expect this error. However, if something has disrupted the loading of Tribunal and/or Bloodmoon the engine may not recognize their existence for this purpose. Exactly how that happened I cannot say, but running an official patch out of sequence may have this effect. If the expansions are 'messed up' it might account for why some of your quests (your other thread) are not being closed. That feature of the journal became fully utilized with the expansions.

Thanks for the info. The thing is that this is an old install that has worked for generations (I'm exaggarating slightly...), i.e. I have the game plus expansions patched and working fine for quite a while. So this has popped up from nowhere just lately. Hm.

An update on this. I get the same warning from Bandit Highwaymen (or whatever they are named):

Script banditscriptTrying to RunFunction index greater than function countThe script will not run anymore.==>CompileAndRun problem was found in Greeting "Greeting 6"

So the common factor so far are scripts where dialogues end with the NPC attacking. Weird.

EDIT: Just thought of something. The issue started after updating MCP to latest version. It seems farfetched that it should have something to do with it though. I'll make a save close to a bandit the next time and try out some different mod loads.

In regards to dialogue, it could be a function that isn't supported by the exe version you are running, or even a typo. You didn't perhaps also install the latest version of MPP did you, or any other dialogue modifying mods?

I updated MPP quite a while ago so it shouldn't have caused this issue which popped up just days ago. Can't think of a single dialogue changing mod I've added lately. I updated MCP last week, though, and except for that I've only added texture replacers etc. I think.

I'm worried that the MCP might have caused this :ahhh: Did you ever get to the bottom of this, Arkngt?

Oddly enough it seems to have "fixed itself". I just faced another Bandit Highwayman and no warning this time. It's odd because just about the only thing I've done since the issue is to merge my own small tweak esp's into one - and I had used the "several ones variant" for ages w/o issues. I've also updated GHF Census and Excise Office to its new version, but the same there - I had used the old one w/o issues for weeks. Basically it might have boiled down to one of those unexplained Morrowind X Files that seems to happen once in a while.

Phew, that's good to know. Oh yes, Morrowind: home of the unexplained.

That was premature. I still have the issue but it's definitely not caused by MCP. I have a save just before messing with Fjor so I can experiment around a bit - and the issue is there when loading the save with the original Morrowind.exe as well. Not that I really thought it was connected to MCP in the first place but now it can be ruled out completely.

OK, I still got the issue when starting a new game so now it's starting to bug me. To recap, I get these warnings when in dialogue with bandits etc. that end with fights - in this case a Bandit on the road between Seyda Neen and Pelegiad:

Script banditscriptTrying to RunFunction index greater than function countThe script will not run anymore.

It's not game breaking as the fights will start as usual after saying yes to continue, but it's immersion breaking and annoying.

Here's the current mod list if anything pops out as suspicious. Using MGE 3.8.0 rev.116 and its internal MWSE. mlox is completely happy with the setup [wohoo!]:

LGNPC Hla Oad perhaps?

Thanks. Don't think so as I used it before the problem started (about halfway through my last game), but I'll try with it unchecked. I have a save just before the bandit so I can try different mod loads rather easily.

EDIT: Nope, that wasn't it.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'll cut the Gordian knot instead by uninstalling/deleting everything/reinstall.
