The Best of Both Worlds

Morrowind and Oblivion were both incredible games, each with a very different feel and play style. For all their good and bad points, they were hugely ambitious games that have stood the test of time, and have changed the way we role-play forever. Moving forward with Skyrim, which elements of these and other Elder Scrolls titles would you like to see brought to the table, and how would you like to see the Creation Engine and other new tech really show them off and bring them to the next level?

OB had more dynamic quests where as morrowind was either go kill this or go steal this.. thats it.. from morrowind i would want the spells and tons of different armor and weapons

Alrighty Heres my pick.

Oblivion:
1. NPC routines
2. Combat
3. Mounts
4. Mana regen
5. Alive world

Morrowind:
1. Legendary Items.
2. Hidden caves/dungeons
3. Valuable items in cities- make thieving worth while
4. No level scale
5. Fast travel system
6. Opposing factions (political/rivalry elements)
7. Building a Fort. (one of my favourite things in morrowind, who doesnt like owning a fort?)
8. More skills, weapon and armour types.
9. More quests/factions
10. No compass icons and no quest markers! (using maps/instructions ingame improves IRL skills too!! :D )
11. Journal from Morrowind
12. Quest update

Daggerfall:

1. Dark atmosphere
2. Even more skills
3. Lots of character customization
4. Huge world

That's a good list.
I'd add no compass icons and no quest markers from Morrowind though as well.

i think a way of toggling the quest markers would be better.. because when you doing a menial Radient quest and cant find a place in the middle of nowhere it can be a pain in the [censored]..

also the Journal from Morrowind would be greatly appreciated

I'd appreciate the quest update from Morrowind (just a discrete message on the screen) instead of the window that stops the game.

Definately agree with this one! The quest updates in Oblivion were more than a little intrusive and emersion-breaking.

From Morrowind - the atmosphere
From Oblivion - the much more visceral and tangible combat system, and the much more interesting quests
Didn't play Daggerfall or Arena, but I understand Daggerfall had a lot of random generated content - don't want that, give us more hand-made marvels instead.

As for the rest, it's all just details that don't make a huge difference. EDIT: Though I would really be annoyed if there were no magicka regen.
