I ask because many modders claim: "I've made this mod for myself, but I decided to share with you guys." - now I think that's a big fat ...
because, how can you get much fun from your own creations? Don't you do it just to rise in ranks of modding community? To show your talents and be praised?
Ranks? wtf?
I basically disagree with everything you said.
The work of actually making mods is very enjoyable for me, and since only I can benefit from the creation
process, than obviously I am only doing it for myself. Modding is fun and inspiring and I get the same amount of pleasure making private mods as I do when I make public mods.
When I release a mod, it is fun to share with the community and hopefully share the fun I had while making it, but I don't think too many people are thinking about "ranks" or if the mod will make them more popular.
It's about sharing fun and artistic creativity with other like minded people.
I tested my mod so much that I won't be playing it for a few months, but I keep it activated in my game, and I look forward to returning to it once I have forgotten some of the secrets and dialog, and to reflect on how enjoyable it was to create.
