[REQ] True "Gecko-Backed" armor retex

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 3:34 pm

In Honest Hearts, one of the stealthily added new crafting recipes for the Survival skill is "Gecko-backed" leather/metal armors. They give higher DT rating as well as some modest resistances to poison, fire, and rads.

However... they're just re-uses of the basic leather/metal armor meshes, no texture set applications.

Are there any daring texturers out there who would want to try their hand at gecko-izing the leather and metal armors (at least the nonmetal parts of the metal armor)?

Ever since I first played Fallout: NV I wanted the purplish-camo Gecko hide as a texture for my leather armour. Attempted it myself, but the texture for the misc item of Gecko hide is really small, so yeah. I'd love this.

I too was disappointed with this. I think they might have realized that people really like those armors and wanted to make them more viable for people who wanted it, but at least a slight change would be welcome.

I don't want to say that I'm a good texturer but I've got an idea that I'll try later and will post here if it gets any good.
Think about flickwerk leather armor.

I think Myrmaad, one of the mods on Nexus, may be attempting this after I asked her. We'll see what she turns out.

I came here to request same after I worked on it a bit, didn't like the results, started over and just did the boots on the Metal Armor, Reinforced so far, and it still needs work.
