Clothing Is Armor
v1.0

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34120

If you're like me, you enjoy dressing up your characters in fine garments... or ugly rags, depending on their given role. Irritatingly enough, this makes them useless in combat unless they are mages and can Shield themselves with spells or potions.

This mod adds shielding to the player if they're wearing any clothes. Shoes, robes, shirts, hats, capes, they all add up. With nothing but regular clothes on you'll be more vulnerable than in a proper set of armor, but better off than running out completely naked.

Each piece of clothing will add 1 point of shielding to your character. Large garments will add more, depending on how many slots they cover. For example, a Robe covers both your Legs and Torso slots, and so it gives you 2 shielding. Rings and amulets will not shield you.

If you are a Journeyman in light armor, each piece of clothing will add 2 points of shielding instead of 1, with larger amounts for larger clothes as described above. A Master of Light Armor receives 3 points of shielding from every clothing piece.

This mod works with clothing added by ANY mod, enchanted, scripted or regular, as long as this clothing does not already have an Armor value. The mod should not conflict with any other mod, as it only adds new stuff and doesn't change any existing items or scripts. The mod works with any savegame, new or old, and requires OBSE v0018.

(NOTE: Your inventory menu updates itself before the shielding is added, so it will show your previous armor rating. Switching inventory pages or closing and re-opening the menu will show the correct value. This is purely cosmetic, the game will always use the correct armor value when reducing your damage.)

heh, could be handy.
I am into fine clothes too.
My solution so far - Use the Unlimited Wear mod, make enough rings with shield, fire shield, frostshield and shockshield and Reduce Damage from Normal Weapons up to 10 rings
(more than one ring on a single finger is not good for fighting if we are to be realistic) and I can easily have 95 armor points wearing lingerie.

I will try your approach too!
Good work :D

Thank you! I know it's easy to shield yourself up with magic, but I do not have access to the Arcane University with this character, and probably never will. Also, I kinda feel like cheating when I'm wearing 10 rings, like opening console and setav defendbonus 100 on myself :D I just sat down and played one night, and thought about how irritating it was having to make her wear that ugly Leather Armor instead of a dress with matching shoes, gloves, cape and hood. Now the difference isn't so great, though for tough fights I also carry a cuirass and a proper pair of greaves.

Thank you! I too am very satisfied with how this turned out, it works with all clothes I've seen so far and without messing up my armor values. The only irritation I've encountered is that a Cloak (from OOO or similar) only counts as 1 item even though it covers 2 slots. There's nothing I can do about this, but wearing a Hood and a Cape will correctly give 2 units of shielding. Once I get the next version of the vampire mod out, I'll make this work on NPCs too!

This actually sounds pretty cool and would give me a reason to wear clothing (lol), but as someone running tons of mods, I probably have plenty that would conflict with this :(

This conflicts with NOTHING! It adds a new quest that starts itself, and uses a new script. That's all, a quest and a script. It should also work with any savegame. Try it out!

Already have a mod that adds a shield bonus depending on your acrobatics skill if you not wearing armor.... the more armor you put on the higher penalty to your Unarmored shield effect, and wearing a cuirass removes the shield effect. It does the job well, it is has perks as well. its called Galerion Unarmored Acrobatics mod http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5067
