Grabbing Problem

I've had this problem for a while now but since I infrequently have to grab items in the game it never really bugged me all that much and I could never figure what was causing it so I'll ask here.

When I grab an item; lets say a sword I want to place on a desk or something when I grab it it magnetically gravitates toward me and gets in the way when I try to walk to place it somewhere rather than being held at a distance, it's kinda difficult to explain so I hope that describes it well enough. At first I thought it had something to do with the mod that the weapon was from but now I noticed it happens with vanilla items too and I know for sure it's not caused by enhanced grabbing because I had the problem before I installed that mod. I've looked for a solution but haven't seen anyone with this problem before any help would be appreciated.

I'm fairly sure i've noticed this even on fresh installs. Nothing to do with a mod, i don't think.

I'm certain this is not something from vanilla, otherwise it would have driven me as crazy as it is doing now.

Maybe what you can see is more severe than what i noticed then, are the objects being grabbed drifting in very slowly, or more quickly?

I'll try to describe it better. In vanilla Oblivion when you grab an item it is held at a distance from you allowing you to place it, but with my problem as soon as I grab something it flies directly up into my face and if I try to walk it prevents me from moving forward while holding the item because it is being held in my way rather than held at a distance and being kept at a distance while moving. I hope that's a clearer description. I'm sure I would have noticed something like this before if it was in vanilla.

And have you tested with no mods installed to make you certain? I've never encountered behavior like you're describing in either vanilla or modded games.

I may not be the brightest crayon in the box but I did think of deactivating the grabbing overhaul (aka enhanced grabbing) :P So I assume you only say that because you saw it had grab in the name.

And have you tested with no mods installed to make you certain? I've never encountered behavior like you're describing in either vanilla or modded games.

Yes I tested it with no mods and have no problems so I know this is caused by a mod and I had never encountered this problem either until my current install.

Unfortunately this may be one of those situations where you just have to work by process of elimination... disable everything, then enable things in small groups until the problem comes back. Then individually test the mods in the last group you enabled.

Being new to the game I wonder is there a way to spin objects around to place them properly?

The grab function is not very precise in my understanding. It is difficult or impossible to place something upright once it is knocked over.

Use redecoration if you want precise object placement just make sure you read the readme and know how to use it.

I recall seeing this behaviour when a trigger zone was placed in front of the player.

What exactly is a trigger zone and what does it do?

It's an invisible box used in the construction set with a script attached, that triggers the script when the player (or sometimes something else) walks through it. A journal update for example when you walk into a room, or rocks that start falling/rolling from somewhere as you get close.
