Khajiit- Feline thieves or so much more? You decide.

Okay simple question for the masses and maybe some Bethesda employees. I don't know if they post on these forums, I'm more used to Bioware. But if they don't post here than I would still like the community to chime in.

We know of the Suthay-Raht breed, but we know little else about the other breeds. More so I believe the last time we were able to play as a different breed was... Daggerfall? Either way I feel it's been too long. In the upcoming title we journey to the home of the Nords, and as such it would be nice, in my opinion, to be a Khajiit with a bit more brawn. I speak of course of the Cathay-Raht, the "Jaguar-men", basically the tough guys of the Khajiit. We have not had a chance to plays as these warrior bred Khajiit and I think it's time for a change. While some might feel they could lose their agile and quick footed appeal I would direct you to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRyiiYKEs4k to illustrate that bigger doesn't mean slower or less sneaky. Also the addition... or I should say return of claws for Khajiit would be great as well. It may be a simple visual change, though it should add damage I think, it would be appreciated.

How do you, the community members and fans, feel about this? Are you against this idea? Do you support it? Be heard.

Thank you for your time. ^_^

If this is changed, so may racial bonuses to lean to a more combat based character, which would upset the balance of the races even more. Also, by this logic, the Argonians should change breeds as well. If i remember correctly from the lore, the reason you can play as Suthay-Raht is because this is the breed that lives Elsweyr the most often.

You do see devs lurking and posting here every once in a while, but not too often, maybe once or twice every few days.

As to your question, I'd like the ability to play as different breeds of Khajiit. More customization is always good.

I doubt Bethesda would only let players play as Cathay-raht, as that would take Khajiit out of their stealth race position into a warrior race one, which would unbalance things as that would mean less stealth races and more warrior ones. And it would likely confuse fans of past games who aren't so well versed in the lore as to why Khajiit suddenly became so different in Skyrim, I could only see that happening if the other Khajiit types were implemented as seperate races the player could choose, which I'd like to see, but probably won't happen unless we get a game set in Elsweyr.

Until we see the race we wont know. You cant see them anywhere in the trailer so,I would wager argonian and khajiit bring more to the table customization wise. I hope for a moon phase slider in the game for khajiits.

I also don't think there is going to be a different breed. The game is possibly going to allow you to play a "brawny" Khajiit thanks to the new customization options, but the different body types likely only change what you look like and don't affect stats.

In Oblivion I've always slightly adjusted the PC's starting attributes from the console (only in PC version) based on what type of character I play. Brawnier -> Less speed and agility, more strength.

Also, Batman is 6'2" and 210 pounds and can sneak better than anyone. Not a real life example, but a fun bit of trivia.

I think making a non Suthay-Raht would upset a lot of people who have enjoyed playing Khajiit in the two most popular TES games... I should they should remodel them for sure, but not change them completely. Ohmes-Raht would be really cool though, in my opinion. Someday, anyway. They should really keep the race stealth-focused though, for sure.

I do agree with those of you concerned about racial balance. It is an important feature... to an extent. Though I wonder how the idea of a moon slider would appeal to people worried about balance. This would allow Khajiit players that ability to get the kind of play style they want. From Ohmes to Cathay, it would be fun I think.

According to UESP, Cathay-raht are similar to Suthay-Raht in appearance, they're just larger and stronger, so I can't see why adding them and still allowing Suthay-Raht would really upset anyone. In fact, I think the lore buffs among us would be praising Bethesda for finally letting us see more than three breeds of Khajiit. :celebration:

I know everyone pretty much loves Khajiit and Argonians, and I promise I'm not flaming, but having sliders to change breeds, which would in turn change bonuses, would be inherently unfair to the other races as no such thing exists. The only thing even close to that that I can think of is if the had an option for the none beast races to be half one race, half another.

:( you just explained the downside of doing a TES VI Elsweyr, they would had to implement multiple Khajiit races, and then they would be very unpopular if they dropped any later.

Think multiple races is best left to mods, the Cathay-Raht should be easy to do, just make the default higher and more muscular and change the stats.

Personally I would want a return of Morrowind's Khajiit

Well developers add sabertooth tiger to game, they was in Daggerfall before
http://images.uesp.net//7/7a/DaggerfallTiger.gif
http://fullrest.ru/deathruler/art/Skyrim_Bestiary_Art/Sabertooth_Daggerfall_Render.png
So modders can edit it for looks like an Pahmar
Some visual reference for different breeds of Khajiits
http://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/?p=conceptart§ion=15266
Edit
Did you see how sneak thats mighty beast in grass?
Why in oblivion felines always charging at enemy and not try to sneak?
Maybe because there is no good sneak implementation in vanila for other actors?
Maybe now Radiant AI and better animations fix thats problem in Skyrim.

It wouldn't necessarily be just for the beasts.
Imperials - Colovian/Nibenese.
Breton - More Elven/Human
Dunmer - Ashlanders?
Bosmer - Native tree hugers/"Civilised"

Im sure the developers would be better than me :D

With the changes to character creation, where different races start off with different skill bonuses and starting spells, I think the problem of having a less stealth oriented Khajiit race is going to be much less significant than in earlier games. And if some balancing was needed then possibly Bosmer could become the 'stealth' race, emphasising the 'track and stalk' aspect of their hunter nature rather than the 'shoot and run'.

Personally I'd be fascinated to see a different sub-type of Khajiit, although I doubt it'll happen. They may get a cosmetic makeover, but I reckon they'll still fill the same gameplay slot.

When (if) we visit Elsweyr in some far off game, then having all the breeds (or at least all the major ones. Say, maybe, six or seven of them?) represented is a must, but we definatly won't see these in Skyrim. Replacing the Suthay-Raht with the Cathay-Raht would, as others have said, totally un-balance the race options.

You're also forgetting that sub breeds of Khajiit are not the only factors.

A desert tribe Khajiit is less likely to be a diplomat and trader, a jungle / farmland one more likely to be so.
If you'd like more info on Khajiit http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Khajiit
I'd also suggest reading the Infernal city Elder scrolls novel for some quirks of desert tribes.

Also if you're on PC there are sites like Nexus that have some great mods that allow you to play as sub races of Khajiit.

Using all the infomation I made a fun role as a nomadic tribeless light armour spellsword.

They are supposed to be my friend, they are supposed to be. That's why I would like the option of choosing my breed.
