BioWare Employee Reviews The Witcher 2

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 12:32 am

I would love to hear what some BW employees think about the company and DA2 after they leave for whatever reasons. We've already gotten some interesting info from the lead designer on DA1 who declined the job for DA2 and quit, and Inon Zur who only worked as freelancer on the game. When you're in the company you're pretty much bound by the PR shackles whenever you want to say something.

This happened with C&C4, which many scratched their heads over. When the press asked them why they took such a U-turn for the franchise, their response was "we wanted to make something really new, not just C&C3.5". A lot of the dev team were laid off after the game was done though. When they were interviewed later we got the real story. The game was originally an experimental F2P project for the Asian market. Some suits saw it and told them "let's turn this into a boxed product and call it C&C4".

Look to the masters at BioWare with their latest RPG epic, Dragon Age 2, for inspiration in your future games, CD Project.

There's the proof, no sane Bioware employer (or EA Bioware employer, whatever) would sprout nonsense like that. The guy must be a troll.

I'm picking up The Witcher 2 on Friday, and I am very much looking forward to it. Don't think I'll ever try Dragon Age 2 ^_^

I don't think a legitimate BioWare employee would bash a game this much just to make theirs look better. I suspect trolling.

Don't believe me? I'll give you the obvious clues;

The website is incomplete, there are various links that don't work and there are a few default pages from the website template that haven't been changed.

The skin used is a slightly modified version of a FREE skin used by amateur news sites, it was originally created to mimic gamespot (AFAIK)

It's hosted on http://www.dreamhost.com/

It uses Quantserve, a notorious website that does tracking and crap for advertisers.

Lol, you people are actually *willing* to believe it's Bioware employees themselves doing it?

The BioWare of old is dead. They have reincarnated as EA BioWare.

In my eyes they are not the same company of old. They are EA now, so even if they make a KotOR, or Baulders Gate I can't get too excited for it no more.

I do have to agree with this. If you say you don't see the difference in the way they have been handling their games since this partnership, then I just don't know.

First, we have an active ongoing thread for the Witcher series, so we don't need another. Second... a lot of this has veered off topic anyway discussing what Bioware should be called. Third, lol at "well, it's on an "interent news" site, so people believe it.

Animation, art direction, dialogue, writing, and combat are all "embarassingly awkward?" Failing to deliver satisfying combat or a compelling story that rises above juvenile? Huh, for a sec, I thought this was a review for Dragon Age 2. And The Witcher has a Mary Sue world? Now isn't that the pot calling the kettle black. :P

Heh, I'm hoping that Guild Wars 2 (or any surprise title) will see a 2012 release and knock ME3 out of a few RPG of the year awards.

Your wish has been granted, I believe. One of the general MMO sites had an article today about the release being delayed to 2012, with a likely beta later this year.
