[RELZ] Companion Vilja ver 2.2 - thread no 5

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 3:51 am

Anyways, I have a question... You said she can ride "her" horse. Do I need to buy her a horse or by that do you mean "my" horse?

Vilja has her own horse, Bruse. When you mount a horse or when suggest her to mount (only in exterior cells) she will summon him (unless he is near) and mount. You cannot mount Bruse, if you activate him Vilja will mount if unmounted and unmount if mounted. There are other companions who can summon their horses, but the option to make the partner to mount or unmount by activating the horse and the dialog option to ask her to mount, as far as I know is a Vilja's exclusive feature (other partners only mount when you mount and dismount when you do so and if you activate their horses a message appears saying that you can't use that horse).

Actually that was the KD's circlet causing the crash, the amulets caused different issues, (it was the Waterwalk) unlimited rings are an option in the Bashed Patch

Yes, but then I believe it was someone else who couldn't enter Bruma with Vilja or other companions wearing too many rings. Cause I know there was someone having this problem.

I am SO impressed! This is the best companion mod Ive ever played! Vilja is just so great... she is a must have companion and travel partner. I love her (your?) accent too, it just seems to fit her so well. The scripting you have done with her just blows me away and I cant tell you how thankful I am for all your work into Vilja. I love all of her comments about random stuff and the quests... and how she interacts with other companions... :D I just love everything about her! hehe

Anyways, I have a question... You said she can ride "her" horse. Do I need to buy her a horse or by that do you mean "my" horse?

Thank you :)

Great to hear that you are enjoying her so much. Yes, it is my accent and my voice. It's true that we have put a lot of time and effort into Vilja, but modding *is* a very enjoyable hobby... and it's always rewarding to hear that others like the end result.
Although... this is of course not the end-result. We're tinkering on her again, adding several new features, and quite a lot of new dialog as well.

As for the horse, I believe Amgepo is right about that it's (so far) unique for Vilja that she can ride while you walk. She loves her horse Bruse, and she will have quite a lot to tell you about him as time passes and she tells you more details about her life.

That would have been Brozly - but it wasn't confirmed as he could use >2 rings afterwards w/o issues:

*OK, Now it quit, I have Unlimited rings enabled, I noticed she had three rings, so I took them and an Amulet, then we could go through without a problem, but I gave them back one at a time, until she had them all and now there doesn't seem to be a problem...

Alright... then the multiple rings weren't a problem in itself, because my post was a reply to his post saying this:

I play with Vilja as essential - can you also make it such that Bruse is also essential when Vilja is? That poor creature is being murdered by the FCOM baddies at every turn... :(

Bruse IS essential. when you point the crosshair on him you don't see the crown asocied with essential NPCs but is essential indeed. If you give him a little time, he will regain conscious (as all essentials).

Ok, I made a statement about rings Prematurely, it turned out to be the KD's Circlet, if you followed that topic...

Allright, I've got an update on the Bruma Gate crash, I started taking away her Enchabted items, and the crash cleared, But it wasn't one of the Rings or the Amulet, turned out to be (from FormIDFinder) T Lesser Diadem of Protection(26002FBC) from mod 26:KDCircletsOOOOptimized - NPC Equip.esp I tried with at least 3 other Diadems and no problem, just that one on particular,,, :icecream:
Anytime I give her that item, it crashes on the Gate transition, I doubt it's just Bruma, and will update this post when I find out...

*I still crash if Vilja has that headband at the IC gates, but if I give it to Sonia, then there's no problem (I'm not too sure Vilja's gonna understand that) :cold:

No, it doesn't appear to, she did have robes on, I had her equip her armor, and it still crashes, but it only appears to be that one circlet, and I gave it to Sonia and it's fine. Pretty sure it a 4%sheild enchantment...

That would have been Brozly - but it wasn't confirmed as he could use >2 rings afterwards w/o issues:

She's currently got Several rings in her inventory, I don't think she actually uses more than 1 or 2, IF any.
I had another incident where she would continually Cast, appearntly, Waterwalk if I equipped a "Waterwalk ring", That issye seems to have corrected itself in the latter releases...

I appoligize for any Confussion

Emma, just want to let you know the crashes stopped. Once I installed Streamline, my game has been crash-free :D guess Vilja wasn't causing it after all.

If only the problems could correct themselves. But yes, I put a fix in 2.3 for the water walking bug. So go ahead and wear 5 water walking enchantments and cast the spell too if you like. Now Vilja is smart enough just ignore such foolishness. Maybe Emma should add a comment to let Vilja point out that the second, third, etc. don't do anything and you're just wasting perfectly good enchantment slots. :)

I hope you do... it really does add a new dimension to the game to have someone to explore Cyrodiil together with :)
I know Vilja has converted some pretty stubborn non-companion-users already, hope she can do the same with you ;)

I was reading a little bit in the opening post and a few other posts and it sounds like she can hold her own in a fight. Which is something I'm really interested in. I'm gonna download this now.

when making this as an omod can I just add the 2.2 fix to the 2.0 omod and have it over write things or is that not recommended?

Yes, if you want to build an OMOD (or just install the mod) you need version 2.0 for the BSA file and then the updated files. You can start with version 2.0, then extract 2.2 on top of it. And then when version 2.3 comes out (this weekend) you can drop it on top of those. (2.3 is the fix for a bug relating to going to jail.)

Personally, I would start with version 2.2, then just grab the 1em_Vilja.bsa file from version 2.0. You can also use the 1em_Vilja.bsa file in the optional download section with the noise-reduced files by Xtudo.

From another thread...

The Vilja mod includes its own quest-delayer, and if delayer patches are used together with her, this might have unwanted effects. If you are running an outdated version of the mod (probably ver 1), you can find ver 2.2 in the link in my signature.

I have specifically stated in the readme and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28977&tab=6&navtag=/modules/comments/index2.php?tid=172080|:|fid=28977 that no quest delayers should be used together with the mod.

Your objection has been noted. My delayer has been removed from the Nexus.
Well... it will be when I can get access to the Nexus file manager.

OH i thought I needed 2.0 for 2.2 to work. I did it any ways and did a quick check. she was there waiting for my help. I'll continue playing later tonight when I get a chance.

Vilja has been upgraded to ver 2.3

Ver 2.3 fixes a bug that occasionally prevents Vilja from following you properly after you have been in prison. Many thanks to Gregor_y and Amgepo for testing and helping with troubleshooting!
A message will also pop up in the left corner if Vilja is set to non-essential and dies.
Two odd dialog-filters have been corrected.

.....and the work proceeds with a more extensive upgrade where also new dialog will be incorporated. But, that will still take a while, so please enjoy ver 2.3 for now. :)

Unfortunately, I cannot update my website tonight, but the latest version can be grabbed at TESNexus: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28977

Well, seems the lady makes up her mind very quickly regarding what she like and what she doesn't like...
I thought she would have felt that she'd fit right in at a place that looks so much like Morrowind, and where people are more or less half-crazy (don't tell her I said that!) :whistling:

With 200 posts and a new upgrade to ver 2.3 (see post above) this seems like the perfect time to close this thread and start a new one. Please post there instead - I'll make the thread immediately and after that I'll request the moderators to lock this one.
