The worst possible thing Bethesda can do to skyrim is...

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 9:57 pm

Anyways, back on topic.
I think the worst they could do is actually give too much and not back it up. I prefer a simpler, more fleshed-out system to a more complicated, yet only surface-scratching system
Also, they COULD make it Morrowind 2, and that would quite frankly svck. Because I admit it, the WORLD in Morrowind captivated me. But the gameplay REALLY bored me.

Agree, 100%.

A Dragon voiced by Christopher Walken.

Wait...that would be awesome!

A half-blind dragon who loved eating cows, but had trouble locating them. So, he kept demanding (you know what's coming, so brace yourself) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4royOLtvmQ!

Bad things that could happen is...

World is too small, not being able to explore fully, no culture(cities don't feel alive), each dungeon/cave/whatthe[censored]ever has nothing unique or really worth your time. I believe in unique items with special abilities. Level system ends at 20.

They won't simplify in a bad way, and whatever the result, SKYRIM will be the best TeS ever!

What kind of near trollish arguement is Morrowind 2 or Oblivion 2 = their gameplays, do you honestly expect them to reboot the old dice roll swing into a game of this generation? really? what the Combat improvement in oblivion wasn't a sign that they are trying to do better with better technology? because last I check Morrowind was made under different circumstances and to a different audience albeit missdone in certain area's.

ook the Skyrim will be Skyrim not morrowind 2.0 or Oblivion 2.0 Argument doesn't hold up, its a silly retort and helps nothing. people bring up past games because thats how they were done in the PAST we don't know what Skyrim will be like but of course its going to share aspects with its predeccessors just like Oblivion did with Morrowind and Morrowind did with Dagger fall and Redguard and Battlespire and Arena.

Stop trying to seperate the games, aside from gameplay differences they are all the same, just excecuted differently. and imo Oblivions execution was.....off, sure when you look at it at certain angles it does fine, I agree, not everything is entirely black and white, to say so is being black and white towards oblivion.

The game portrayed the factions as, very generic. yeah it added its weight in lore but alot of things stood out that makes ine loyal to the series face palm all the games share aspects to one another, Skyrim is another installment into the series stop trying to downplay arguments by dismissing people as wanting Morroblivion 2.0 its not so simple and is a shade of disrespect. its no secret were Oblivion was getting its inspirations from rather than delving into its own well established lore and letting that cascade across its surface and enrapture its audiences.

all you ever heard about Oblivion in its reviews are how open it was its graphics and how much there was to do and how much of an Improvement there was over Morrowinds Combat. that alone proved how base some of these reviewers were, in that they didnt even sink into the game much or figured were it was coming from. of course there is going to be an improvement over Combat its the middle of the decade most games have improved vastly in that respect what did you expect? I'd understand if it was released a year after morrowind fine but other wise thats not much of a call.

the Game wasn't all it could have been, this is not a derogatory remark. and the fears of Skyrim being as generic are not unfounded.

and that is the worst I feel Bethesda could do to the game, turn it into something generic, Streamlined isn't an always positive terminology.

Cut spell making

I for one to not play ES to customize spells that are either 1) useless when you can buy other spells or 2) over powered.

You obviously dont understand why people want spell making. Its definitely not to make overpowered spells with, its for customization, creativity and role-playing. Spell making is an essential part of TES, its one of many things that separates The Elder Scrolls from lesser RPGs and is just as important as smithing, or enchanting etc. There no good reason to cut it and every good reason to keep it.

QTE's, enough said. Seriously, if either the dragon encounters or the finishing moves have giant, simon says style flashing button sequences on the screen, I will calmly pull the disk out of drive and slit my own wrist.

If there's a single QTE, SOMEBODY is going to get hurt. I don't know who, but SOMEBODY will.

Gotta agree with this.

But really my biggest fear is not having enough side quests. This was a serious problem in Fallout and a little annoying in Oblivion. It bothered me how each little village had one quest, and then it no longer mattered in any way. These minor locations and their characters need to be fleshed out a little more, and perhaps drawn into multiple quests.

Cut spell making

I was actually against this at first, but it kinda makes sense
if you want to make a spell with a combination of effects you have to co to an alter, but with the new combat you just equip 2 different spells

The WORST thing they could do is reduce the graphics to mke it look like N64.
Sell it for 100$.
Remove character customization and leveling.
And make you sit in your cell all day.
Then once the guards finally come to get you out. Credits.

RIght after the final climactic battle, have the 'camera' start panning out.. panning out... until it's shown that the world of Skyrim is a kid's snowglobe.
