So I've been toying with the idea of using some kind of long-range communication for a mod I'm working on, which led me to the http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/nu-hatta_nu-mantia.shtml. However, this confused me a lot. Isn't the Dreamsleeve the "afterlife"? How can people communicate through it?

Is it like a s?ance? Do mages talk into their crystal balls like a webcam chat? It it just plain ol' telepathy?

Can anybody point me in the direction of some less confusing texts or something?

In the Aurbis, all beings are part of a larger mind that fractured over time. The Dreamsleeve can be used to describe the part where an individual being is connected to that mind and the soul as the connection between the being and dreamsleeve. Upon death, the soul snaps back into the dreamsleeve and people experience afterlife.

So since all beings are part of a larger mind, rather then going to somebody and shout something in their ear, you might as well take the direct route and talk to their mind through the Dreamsleeve.

This is about as simple as it gets.

I would think it has something to do with Magical Ability. Probbably a form of Conjuration or Mysticism. Don't quote me though. I'm more of a novice than anything in the lore field.

Mediation I believe. It's not something physical, hardly even magical. It's much closer too a monkey with bunch of electrodes on his brain moving a mouse pointer by thinking about moving it.

Did you mean "meditation" or "mediation"?

Remember, there's an actual precedence for this in lore. I should have remembered in the "psychics" thread from a while back. The Battle-mage generals of that failed Imperial invasion of Akavir supposedly communicated with one another through the Dreamsleeve. However, their Akaviri rivals somehow conjured giant storms and other magical interference to block their psychic communications.
