Nord and Vikings? one in the same?

The Nords really have their own naming thing...

While I mostly agree with you, some of the Nord names are close to Scandinavian and European names. A few examples:
Agnete the Pickled -I know a few Swedish females named Agneta
Else God-Hater - Elsa is not uncommon in Sweden
Hans Black-Nail - Neither Hans is uncommon
Jesper - Ive had scoolmates named Jesper

And the above mentioned are only some of those Ive encountered in RL. And the way of being named Black-Nail, God-Hater etc is not unlike names some Vikings used. For instance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erik_the_Red. But, as said, Nords are inspired by, not based on Vikings.

Nords came from a fictional land called Atmora, arriving on Tamriel's northern shores in the first era. Vikings have never seen, smelled or tasted Atmora and are definitely not from Atmora. Are they one in the same? You be the judge.

If I'd bother correcting lore on the UESP I'd have no life left, so I don't bother. Besides, I do not know that much that I'd feel comfortable editing the articles out of fear of forgetting important information. The Imperial Library ftw.

I can see why the Imperials remind you more of the Romans, but if you knew more about the Roman Empire you'd see that there's practically just as much reason to compare Tiber Septim to Akbar the Great as to Augustus Caesar. I just don't like stereotyping things

And indeed, neither the Mongols nor the Romans where very nice to people who didn't cooperate :D

You're probably right. Stereotyping is never good.

That Imperial Library seems like a good resource. I'll check it out.

And the elves and beast...ummm, they aren't on earth.

The Dunmer have Assyrian names, and the Khajiit names have many similarities with Pashtun names, and other cultures that use patronymics and descriptions.
