NPCs moving in a glitchy manner...

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:14 pm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wrhVNxXWsQ of an example, quality is terrible, not sure what the background noise is - haven't learned how to edit videos yet either *facepalm* but it gets its point across.
Anyways, here's the topic description I posted with full details:

Ok, first of all I want to explain, this is a fresh install of Oblivion. I have no mods running on it, and have not modified these files in any way. I'm only playing in windowed mode so I can capture it on a screen recorder, which also explains the bad quality - unregistered hypercam.

The reason I'm uploading this in the first place is just so I can link people to it and try to find out what the problem is, but if you're a random viewer, feel free to leave your suggestions/thoughts here. Thanks!

The problem: I just bought a new laptop, it's running a 2.4GHz intel i5 core processor. NVIDIA GTS 360M GFX Card. I don't believe the rest of the specs would influence this problem at all, if so I'll add them too. Anyways, the game seems to be running at an increased speed, which is leading to some pretty odd happenings. The main example I wanted to show here in the video was that Daedric Spider. Notice how it seemed to hop more than run? On top of that, it totally ran straight up the wall that it normally can't clear....

This laptop has the capabilities of running Oblivion on the highest graphic settings, full screen. When I first installed Oblivion, I didn't take much time testing, but it was running just fine around NPCs, in combat, in normally laggy areas like an Oblivion Plane...All perfect framerate. Shortly after, I noticed some of the NPCs were acting strangely, and I wasn't too sure what the problem was. Any help would be greatly appreciated ^_^

Thanks to anyone here who can help me with the problem!

I know this is probably very obvious, but have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game? Also, have you looked around online to see if any other people are having any problems playing Oblivion with that laptop / graphics card? And does the machine seem to have any other problems outside of Oblivion or with other games?

Does it matter that I'm running Windows 7?
