Better looking clothing

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:42 pm

Noticed that the female mage (the one with the fire AoE spell) had a really cool looking set of clothes. I'm of course speculating they are clothes, since it's a display of a mage character. I find this really exciting. In oblivion the only alternatives to robes were... well... you've all seen the clothes in oblivion. It could also just be a re-imagining of robes, and the SS is an example of that. How do you feel about clothing options?

Clothing is extremely important. A mage that chooses not to wear armor will be wearing clothes, not all mages want to wear robes (Unless they are awesome this time) and so some decent clothes are rather important that way. It's also an important factor in roleplaying, while my hardened mercenary would be wearing leather armor at all times I'd still like to spice things up by putting on regular clothes for a change, or maybe a hooded robe if I'm trying to keep a low profile.

I feel the same way, good to know some others in the community feel it's important too. In oblivion I always ended up picking the cheap clothes to avoid looking gaudy in the expensive pieces, always frustrated me.

I think the clothes in Oblivion was decent but should have more variation, the bathrobes the mages used was the main exception. In the Skyrim movie it looked like the new robes are far better. :celebration:

Agreed 100%. Armour for dungeons, and clothes for town. Hopefully with this new item set menu,we will be able to 'Quick change' into civvies. Oh, and Beth, please bring back a version of the Robe of Glib Tongues, we don't all want big armour and bigger weapons all the time, pretty please.

I think you can always use some extra options in clothing, though I liked what was actually in Oblivion. Missed cloaks/capes a bit, and as said you can always use some extra variations, but all in all... The only thing that REALLy annoyed me, was the fact that you couldn't wear clothing and armor at the same time. That was annoying... <_<

Well, the one robe...clothing configuration...hoody thing we did see looked pretty sweet, so it'll probably be okay. I'll slightly miss my neon blue and red...but I'll survive. :P

I didn't personally like the clothing in Oblivion, especially the robes. To me, there wasn't enough variety in clothing and armor but this might change in Skyrim hopefully

think they did that so you couldn't have on sets of enchanted stuff. like 100%shield and 100%spell reflect, ect

I agree with these things, but clothing isn't just important as an option for the player. Because even if you end up never taking off you're armor, you're still going to see NPCs wearing it. So getting the look of clothing right is important for keeping the feel of the world. There should be a wide variety of clothing in the game, whether you want expensive clothing or cheap clothing. And some clothes should look functional, while some should be more decorational. And of course, this being Skyrim, I expect to see quite a few items of clothing that look like something you'd expect to wear in a cold climate.

You can't get 100% shield in Oblivion anyway, since armor rating is capped at 85%, you can get 100% reflect spell, though, and chameleon, and if not wearing clothing under armor was supposed to prevent that, it really didn't work. But I think it was more intended to make unarmored characters slightly less penalized, I mean, not only do they have to suffer less defense due to lack of armor, but they also get fewer enchantment slots in Morrowind. Of course, if that was their intention, it still didn't work, because they also decided to remove unarmored gloves and the unarmored skill, meaning unarmored characters are still penalized. I mean, sure, the unarmored skill didn't actually work in Morrowind unless you wore at least one piece of armor, but that was clearly a bug and could be avoided in a new game, so it doesn't constitute an excuse to remove the skill.

good point about npcs, didn't even think about that, how it affects npcs you fight and interact with for other things. that's a lot of you're gaming experience.

edit:^^i thought you could enchant 5 pieces with 20%shield sigil stones. might be one of my mods :D
