Anyone familiar with 'The Witcher' mods?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:02 pm

Ok well I am planning on getting The Witcher 2, and I have decided to finally play through the first (even though I [censored] HATE the voice acting.. god those actors need to be shot..). Since I am a fan of mods for most games, I am wondering if anyone whose familiar with mods for The Witcher could suggest to me some.

I'v got the HD texture mod, and am avoiding any of the 'rebalance' mods since they also revamp the difficulty considerably, and I am playing through for the story, nothing else.

Any mods suggestions would rock :)

*As for the VO's, play in Polish. That's what I did.

Are you playing in pre- or post-Enhenced Edition? And how far have you got? I found that while the EE improved VA overall, it made the prologue far worse.

I just downloaded the game from GOG and installed exactly those three mods + Flash Mod + FCR.

It seems that there are not too many mods for the Witcher, at least that I can find.

Here are all the mods I could find:
http://www.moddb.com/mods?filter=t&kw=Search+...&released=def&style=def&theme=def&game=10062&type=def&sort=dateup-desc

Texturen + Hi Res character models makes a huge difference, definitely a big improvement, although there are still a couple of textures that seem low res. I suggest if you install these textures to make sure to use 16 x Anisotropic Filtering and high visible distance. AF seems to help improve the textures a lot.

I just started the game, so far at the beginning of the game, Hard difficulty with FCR it is not too difficult. Keep in mind there is also a "normal" (easy) difficulty setting with FCR.

Where can I find this? It wasn't listed in the moddb site bootysweat linked to. =/

I have the original (red box) Witcher game, and I dl'd all the "enhanced" edition content from the official site. I have yet to install and play the game, been too busy, but I'm collecting mods. I found something called "the witcher blood patch" is that still needed?

Thanks!

I've been hemming and hawing about the Enhanced edition. I have the red box, is it worth buying the EE, even though I already dl'd the ee content updates for the original game? I feel like it'd be silly, and I've done a lot of stupid purchases because of my finickiness. :S

I believe all updates in the EE are available via free download, so you don't really need it unless you want the guide, map, short story, and bonus cd's. I ran into EE on a whim, and was surprised at all the extra goodies it had, a throwback to the days of yore when games usually came with this stuff.

But is it worth $12? Mind you, I have no income at all (full-time student), so $12 could get me at least one used game at Gamestop. And if I do get the EE, what do I do with the red box edition? I already have Gothic 1, 2, and 3, and the Gothic Universe, and I've been trying to sell/trade the individual games for over 6 months with no success. But, damn, a map and bonus discs do sure sound good. How important is it to have a manual for the game? Does EE come with a paper manual like the redbox edition, or is it on the disc? Are there in-game tooltips to explain everything anyway?
