Notice that little sub -forum that says "oblivion mods"? Also I feel obliged to say that mods only work on the PC, so no 360 or PS3.

How would he be on the consoles and run oldoblivion.Oldoblivion is an program that allows bad pcs to run oblivion,no console(that has a version of oblivion) needs oldoblivion nor do most pcs.

Oldblivion is a PC modification that allows Oblivion to run on lower spec'd machines.

Oldblivion is a PC mod/overhaul that makes it possible to play on PCs that do not have the required power and shader support that are required to play. It has nothing to do with Xbox or PS3.

...And hopefully .Escapist should now get the message. :P

AFAIK Oldblivion is no different from vanilla Oblivion when it comes to using mods. Though I do wonder what you are doing trying to use them if you can't even play vanilla Oblivion.

Afaik Oldblivion only runs without the latest patch or is this information outdated (in that case almost no mods would work)? Not sure whether you can use OBSE either. I might be wrong in both cases though, it's just what I remember.

My mistake, it's only compatible with v1.1, and OBSE doesn't work, you're right.

With a bit of fiddling it is actually possible to run patched Oblivion with OBSE and Oldblivion. Last year I put 100+ hours into an FCOM game with this setup on a 1.6GHz Celeron and an Intel GMA 950. All the info was on the Oldblivion website I think. I'll have a look...

Edit -

http://www.oldblivion.com/?page=docs&title=Oldblivion+with+Patch+1.2

OBSE...
Spoiler
Quote
move the: Oldblivion.exe. .Dll and .CFG files, and the shaders.sdp, oldblivion.dll.log and oldblivion.exe.log files into the folder C:\Program Files\Bethesda softworks\Oblivion\ or the equivilent location on your system.

running Oblivion with Oldblivion and OBSE with a shortcut

make a shortcut for obse_loader.exe

right click the shortcut and choose properties.

now edit the target field of the shortcut by adding -old to the end of the line. Remember to leave a space before the -.

It should look like this: "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\obse_loader.exe" -old
Note the placement of the command line parameter '-old' out side of the "" in the target field. Be sure the path is correct and points to "obse_loader.exe".

and starting in:

"C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\"

Now if all is right when you click OK the shortcut should work. You might like to change the Icon to something more like Oblivion.

Just don't expect it to be pretty :whistling:

I have no experience with Oldblivion myself, but I have got feedback from players using my Map Marker Overhaul (and therefore OBSE too) with OIdblivion. It turned out that one menu in MMO displayed incorrectly with Oldblivion, so I included a special Oldblivion setting which makes MMO use a simpler menu.

So it seems that Oldblivion users can use OBSE and modern mods, but I would stay away from FPS-hungry mods ;)

Oldblivion...WTF??? Why not just save up some money, get a decent computer, and play actual Oblivion w/ SI and KOTN? Believe me, you will enjoy it WAY MORE.

Don't think that's quite the point...various reasons for using Oldblivion, and not all of them have to do with money (ex. Oblivion on the go, etc). Your post didn't really contribute anything productive either :-/

I am with you on this one...but it would be nice to have Oblivion installed on this thing (MacBook Pro) so that I could continue taking screen shots for the site. I am going to try to push forward with LogMeIn though...

I meant taking screen shots of the setup (i.e., Data folder, utilities, etc.) Switching from using my desktop to this mobile unit sounds like torture, haha. You're used to what you're used to I guess...
