recommend a good location/quest marker on compass limiter

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:41 pm

I thought one of these two had the feature to remove the red pointer and other things from the compass, but now I notice after installing maybe they didn't.

If I didn't miss the feature, can you recommend a good one?

They can be tweaked in the ini IIRC. I'm also pretty sure there is a tweak in the bashed patch.
Edit: You can disable marker on the local and world map using the MMO ini but not compass markers that will have to be done with the bashed patch tweak.

I redid the setup for MMO and it does do visibility limiters but I still have the red maker on my compass. MMO seems only concerned with the map for this and
not the compass.

I am presently trying to find where I can get Pluggy 1.28 or newer, as MMO needs for automatic backup. The Pluggy that comes up in Nexus is 125b then a dev version v132.
Should I use that version?

If you read what I said before you will notice I already said MMO only does the maps and not the compass. You will have to use the bashed patch tweak to get rid of compass markers. I'm not sure about pluggy, I use 125b and everything works fine, I'm not sure what automatic backup is for.

There is no bash option for MMO there is an option under: tweak setting/compass: disable. right click on that and select whatever you want to hide quests, POIs or both.
Also you double post far too often use the edit button if you have something else to add.

Despite missing br0sk1's first information, I feel obliged to offer a suggestion, since I have the same issue. For starters, the Bashed option to disable the compass arrows does not work. I don't know if it's b/c of having a heavily modded game, or b/c the feature simply doesn't work. There are a couple options on Planet Elder Scrolls you can try, but the mods are very old, and of questionable safety. Your best bet is to set your current quest to one that has no marker, like Daedra Shrines or Seeking Your Roots.

I use the tweak and it works fine for me. That isn't to say it is infallible though.

MMO has a marker backup option, one of which is automatic but requires that level of pluggy.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10763

To remove the quest marker arrow from the compass, open the hudmainmenu_config.XML file in notepad (it is found in data/menus/prefabs/DarN), find the entry <_show_questtarget> and set it to 0. To remove it from the map, open map_config.XML (it's in the same place) and set to 0, as well.

There you go, no more quest GPS markers.

I have DarnUI. You are saying go into those files and change them or are you saying Darn should be doing this?

I just went through it again and didn't see an option for compass marker.

You need to open those files and edit them yourself. I think you can set the markers on and off through the ingame menu, but the menu is really for experimenting with different HUD layouts since DarNUI can't save the settings. All permanent changes must be done through the XML files.

Just get into the XML, press ctrl+F, and type in <_cshow_questtarget> (sorry, last post had a typo) to find the entry.

Do the same thing for map_config, but type <_show_qm>

But in the topic you say that you use Immersive Interface. II and DarN's UI are incompatible, so skip II as DarN's UI can mimic everything II does.

I was using II.
I "have" many mods.
The idea what to see this in setup, not have to dig into files, hence the question to Acolyte.
