Then that whole debacle with Shor and Alduin split the peoples of the world in half between those who sided with Alduin and became the Aldmer and those who sided with Shor, becoming Atmorans. while the Hist laughed at the foolish warmbloods killing eachother over something that had already, irreversibly been done.

I always figured Nedes and the other tribes of men enslaved by the Ayleids were actually Nords who migrated really far south, settled, then were conquered and enslaved, but I never really did look into the origins of Atleid slavery, since it was the tearing it down that was fun.
