Discuss the new Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim trailer here! (THREA

One thing I really haven't seen mentioned (granted, I don't sit here and read the forums all day), is the guy in the background playing an instrument during the stealth kill.

I really hope that means the atmosphere, particularly in taverns, is a lot better this time around. Always hated walking into a tavern in Oblivion/Morrowind and it being as quiet as a tomb....

Yeah i saw that to i wonder if we can play one.

Can I get my vids added to the original post please.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmXku4Og_w4 Full trailer at half speed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSVMWzysCqo Wall scenes removed with dragon fight at end and most scenes at 1/4 speed.

Thanks for these videos... I love the half speed one. Can still make out what he's saying and just soak in all the epicness. :hugs:

My opinion to the Skyrim trailer is similar to what I felt about Dragon Age 2 demo. For a sequel, I expect to see some visual improvements over its predecessor, but all I see is what look like Oblivion with better shaders. I have seen Xbox 360 games with better water physics, better shaders, so the problem does not lay with the console. Just disappointed. :sadvaultboy:

Just because Dragon Age 2 and Skyrim doesn't look much better than Dragon Age: Origins and Oblivion doesn't mean that they can be even greater games than their predecessors.

And I think that Skyrim actually looks like it has taken a great graphical jump from Oblivion compared to DA and DA2. :)
Skyrim will look effing nice when you get your hands on it.

In the beginning of the video, when the guy is running from the dragon. When he's running through some kind of forest, look at the ground. SHADOWS!
Also, that one with the guy hunting in the fall forest. DYNAMIC, REAL-TIME SHADOWS

And honestly, you CAN'T expect some kind of graphical revolution for a sequel that's on the SAME GENERATION CONSOLES. Of course it won't make as much change as it did between Morrowind and Oblivion

DYNAMIC, REAL-TIME SHADOWS

Not trolling, but please define "dynamic" and "real-time" shadows. Since when did games have non-real-time shadows?

It looks just fine. Of course, I'm not a graphical snob that won't complain if something doesn't have all the latest bells and whistles and doesn't run a a resolution that makes 1920x1080 look pitiful.

Also, the reason Oblivion felt smaller than Morrowind is due to the pace. You could move at a good clip in OB even in heavy armor, plus horses. Morrowind without the Boots of Blinding Speed had you limited to a tortoise's pace unless you leveled up Speed a hell of a lot.

Are you blind? !!!! It looks like Oblivion with better shaders? I think you need to get glasses my friend clearily your eyes arn't working, I haven't ever seen anyone who has seen the new trailer say that it looks like Oblivion!! Wtf are you on? There are so many improvements you can't compare the 2! Lighting, shaders, textures, shadows, real time moving independant trees, branches and plants, a MUCH longer view distance, and MUCH better animations! Not to mention I think the textures ARE sharper if you pause and look!

I don't get people like this I think you seriously need to go load up Oblivion on you console then go look at the trailer again... :stare:

Wow! I just watched it for the first time and I got goosebumps! Skyrim is going to be EPIC and I plan on not only buying the game, but I gotta have the sountrack! Jeremy Soule has outdone himself!

BTW, hearing the Oblivion theme again sure brought back memories. :)

Isn't it a Morrowind theme?

Possible proof of Morrowind level of customization?

Look at the assassin. IT looks like he's wearing a sleeveless leather chest piece with what seems to be a shirt under neath it. But that's not what I have as proof.

Look at the female elf sitting down on the bar stool in the second picture. Look at her left arm. It seems like a pauldron, but it could be attached to the chest piece, right? Well, look at her other arm. It looks different. It douesn't seem to be protruding as much. Once again, it could just be the chest piece. But now look at the first picture. The tattooed elf looks as i he's wearing the same shoulder piece, with the chest and looking a tad bit different. What's definitely different is the armor on the right shoulder. It's sticking out and looks more like the one on his left arm.

Even if that's not true, the shoulder pieces look very similar, and the female elf has clothing underneath it, showing at least a possibility to wear clothing under armor.

Take this as you will, just some stuff to think about."

It's both. The Oblivion theme is based on Morrowind's theme.

Is there a video with just the music used in the trailer without sound effects? I'd like to hear it without dragons roaring and the sound of battle.

...Tear of joy...
Watching this, all the great memories of playing Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion flushed my mind, mixed with the excitation provoked by this awesome trailer.
I'm so hyped about Skyrim..... :ahhh:

PS: Listening to the trailer from 1:07 at double playing speed brings it differently

I was hoping to be able to use my left hand with a weapon and my right hand with a shield but upon dissection of the trailer here is what i found;

The Imperial Legion guard @ 1:21 in the vid his sword is sheathed on the left side of his body.

The hill giant @ 1:26 in the vid his one handed giant club is flung over his shoulder being held in the right hand.

The third person perspective @ 1:28 shows the PC walking with his sword is sheathed on the left side of his body, and an
The Imperial Legion guard walking towards him again with his sword is sheathed on the left side of his body.

Another third person perspective @ 1:29 shows this time a bow in the left hand implying plucking the bowstring with the right.

@1:31 we see some sort of magic being prepared against a frost troll again magic from the left hand, sword in the right

@1:32 we see a third person perspective of a stealth character doing a rather cool special sneak attack slitting a person throat the left hand grabbing him the dagger in the right slicing.

@1:33 an axe is thumped down on the head of some creature cutting it off again Axe in right hand, shield in left

@1:34 magic staff shots a ranged magic shot , again in left hand, a sword in the right hand.

@1:35 we see something even more revealing, a third person vid of the PC attacking, doing an awesome spinning attack sword in right hand, Dagger in Left. his opponent sword in right hand, shield on left.

@1:36 we see magic casting but whats telling here is that the zombie enemies one in back is holding a sword in his right hand, another in front holds a sword in his right hand, and far left a zombie with a Beard! (cool) holds an axe in his right hand shield on his left.

@ 1:40 we see the PC (in some incredibly cool looking black armor) in third person drawing his sword again with his right hand and walking forward.

@1:41 we see first person the drawing of a bow with the right hand.

@1:43 we see something intriguing, magic cast being done WITH BOTH HANDS!!!, very interesting perhaps then casting could be done with only the right hand, since we know the animation is working for both hands in this magic casting scene. BTW the zombie in front is holding a war axe in his right hand and point to the PC (very cool looking)

@1:44 we see a very cool finishing move the left hand is empty holding the unfortunate fellow, the right hand plunging a sword through his stomach.

@1:46 we see third person stealthy character in Dwemer! ruins with a dagger in his right hand

@1:46 first person we see the PC attacking a giant freaky looking spider with a cool looking mace again with his right hand

are you seeing a common theme here?

The main weapon is ALWAYS in the right hand, The entire awesome game-play video shows not a single example of the primary weapon in the left hand, nor ever a shield held in the right, not on the PC, NPC's or monsters. None.

Which is why i would like to ask officially if we could please have Lefties in the game Bethesda, Thank you.
