I bough a microphone today and my computer has the sound rec

but it wont record sound ...

even when i unplug the mic

Really?! You need to give more information. For example, what Operating System do you have since Windows 2000/XP and Vista/7 have different sound options in the control panel. Next, give the make and model of the mic... Maybe its muted? Depending on your sound card you may need to select Line-in 1 or a "Microphone" port.

^The static discharge should be enough to cause clipping in the signal path wich would thus be recorded.

Is it a dynamic or a condenser microphone? Condensers require +48volts of phantom power wich means you need a pre-amplifier capable of supplying power to the mic.

Its a dynamic mic

+ the moniter the computer is connected to has built in speaker + mic and thats not working out either ...

how do i get a driver for a mic ??

A microphone doesn't need a driver. You do need to plug it into a mic port on your sound card/chipset. If your monitor has built-in speakers and a microphone header?! then you need to plug the monitor headers into the sound chipset, or they won't function.

What monitor do you have?

really old peice of junk you may of seen them when you were in grade school ??? white brown colour very heavy
