A World of Pain...?

Couldn't find the original thread, but does anyone use this mod? If so, what are your thoughts?

Also I have an issue where none of the "new" NPCs from the mod have any dialogue, spoken or written. Anyone know what the issue may be?

Thanks!

There never was a thread on AWOP I don't believe, the author stuck to the Nexus and never announced here. As for my thoughts on it, it's a high quality "dungeon romp" mod that's virtually a free DLC now given how much content it adds. Be sure to bring plenty of ammo, chems, repair kits, stimpaks, and other supplies when you attempt its larger dungeons.

The only real complaint I have on it is that the mod is rather loot heavy so you may want to hold off on exploring some locations until you're somewhat more advanced in levels and equipment. I can think of a few places in the mod that aren't overly dangerous for various reasons but would give a < level 10 say character a big advantage in the vanilla quests and locations in the game when you add in some of the equipment and items you could pick up there. Also the M-weapons it adds are rather overpowered for the base game as they were designed with the AWOP dungeons in mind.

Oh and one last fun point - add in TheCastle's Increased Wasteland Spawns mod with AWOP and you get total chaos in some areas. Great fun.

Concerning there being no voice overs, he never added it AFAIK. Doesn't really detract, as very few of the NPCs it adds are meant to be spoken too and are there for flavor or some minor storytelling when non-hostile. Mostly, you're supposed to shoot the added NPCs before they take your head off.

The balancing really is a tad out of whack- one of the ruins you get sent to by the Goodsprings quest giver, that's easily doable at level 5-6, contains a full suit of Ranger Combat Armour and an Anti-Materiel Rifle. It's also kind of annoying how he's dropped new "NCR Special Forces" and whatnot all over the place. The dungeon design, though, is great and it makes wandering around exploring everywhere a lot more rewarding.

yea, even with the low loot patches I got hold of a anti material rifle off one of the powder gangers that attack goodsprings before level four with the latest version :gun:

would be a awesome mod but I think the author got a little too ambitious with the loot leveled lists imho

nice dungeons, and adds more to explore, and more enemys, so its still a very good well made mod

just too much unbalanced equipment I think

It does allow you to get high-powered weapons very early, which is why i leave the major dungeons alone until i get to higher levels. The dungeon design is top notch though, and the bosses add some extra spice to it. Apart from aforementioned issues that is exactly why i play on PC :goodjob:

Hey guys, thanks for the replies! I may avoid this as I'm very particular about my game balance... We'll see..

On my second question, I actually have NO dialogue for these new NPCs. Not just no spoken, but no text as well. That's not intentional is it?

Also, just wanted to give a shout out to TalkieToaster! It's an honor to have you post in my thread - I'm a huge fan of some of your Oblivion mods! :) In fact I'd still play Oblivion if it weren't so cumbersome to install the mods I want.

You PC players are so lucky lol. I think once I get into the Army I'm going to upgrade to a gaming PC and make the switch. I love reading about all the fallout mods, they all look so cool.

Geat mod.

Some of the early loot is provided to help get a brand new courier up and running after you have already been through the game once.

Lot of loot, but some great play that is second to none.

I remember using the low loot mod and heading off in to the underground and was soon deep deep underground.

I was loaded with loot, low on ammo and stim patches and really looking for an exit. Any exit.

Was never so glad to see the sky again in a Fallout game.

Try it with the equally good New Vegas Bounties I and II.

Ive been using this mod as the New Vegas equivalent of the Fallout 3 mod, DC Interiors as its added a lot of locations that are rather interesting. Basically i just dont use the overpowered equipment, instead i choose to drop them in a random storage place or display them on mannequins.

It is a great mod! Wouldn't want to play without it, wish it came with the game.

I for one like that you can be low level and pick up some good gear....why should i have to be a certain level for certain guns to start appearing? The guns themselves have skill and sometimes strength requirements to fully utilize them.

If only the requirements mattered :D Still, the ammo they use can be a limiting factor too. 12.7mm and .50 are quite rare early in the game.
