Crashing on the start-up

So NV keeps crashing and I can't figure out why. I have NVSE completely updated, and I thought I had the right load order, but apparently not.

Maybe somethings is missing a master or a mod is loading before its master. Have you esmized your esp's with FNVMasterUpdate? That has made some of my mods load before their masters till I fixed their dates/load order.

Could also be a mod with something seriously wrong with it. i.e. wrong variable/reference type where its not supposed to be.

Windows 7 64-bit? It's an issue with the .dll Steam just has to load before it'll start the game. I have to keep restarting it before it decides to finally work. It usually takes 3-4 times for it to work.

I'm pretty sure they are loading properly, there aren't any mods loading before their masters.

Yeah I have windows 7 64 bit, but this crashing problem hasn't happened before. It just started when I started using these mods.

I would test it with no mods loaded to see if the problem persists. I don't think it's a problem with the mods, I think it's a problem with how Steam interfaces with the launcher.

Hmm. That doesn't turn it off in the .ini does it? But it's not like it's hard to reset that...is it?

[edit]: I just tried Gre-nades and HAM's suggestion and the launcher didn't crash on me when I started the game. I had to manually redo my archive invalidation process, but that wasn't very hard to do. Make sure you only modify the fallout_default.ini file in your New Vegas folder because that one will overwrite the other three.

Oh, I don't think I was being very clear. It's not the launcher, its the actual game, like it crashes before reaching the start menu.

Sorry for the lack of clarity.

Have you tried the BOSS auto-sort? I know the weather mod said it should load last, but I'm not sure about that ELECTRO-CITY - Imaginator.esp one. Also, what is the URWLified version?

Thats the load-order BOSS has given me.

I disabled all of my mods, and the problem persists, I'll try to reinstall NVSE I suppose.

i was just having a similar problem. i would only see the first screen (one with all the copyright material) and then NV would crash. i fixed it by re-verifying the game cache. very easy to do: load steam, go to your game library, right-click on Fallout NV, select properties from the drop menu, go to the local files tab, and click the "verify the game cache button."

hope this helps

EDIT: on a side note doing this resets the ini file. so you may want to copy it if you made any changes. (i assume so because i had to reapply the edits for darN UI)

To the OP:

What changed between the game not crashing and crashing? Did it patch? If you use the .bsa version of Archive Invalidation Invalidated, a patch or two ago made it so that the old location of the .bsa would produce the crash you're experiencing. The new location of the .bsa in your fallout_default.ini should be like this:

bInvalidateOlderFiles=1bUseArchives=1SArchiveList=Fallout - Voices1.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - Misc.bsa, AII-FNV!.bsa, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Textures2.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa

I've got the exact same problem, the game crashes immediately when I start it. My .bsa for arhcive invalidation invalidated is named exactly AII-FNV! and I used this(Fallout - Voices1.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - Misc.bsa, AII-FNV!.bsa, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Textures2.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa) for Fallout.ini, Fallout_default.ini, and FalloutPrefs.ini. I use the archive invalidation from here: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35935. I activate it before I start the game. Here is my load order:

FalloutNV.esm
WARZONES - Misanthropy Pure.esm
AWorldOfPain(Preview).esm
ELECTRO-CITY - CompletedWorkorders.esm
ELECTRO-CITY - Highways and Byways.esm
Caliber.esm (this would be CaliberX, not the one from Reload)
CFWNV.esm
Weapon Mod Expansion.esm
IIWR 2.0.3.esp
PerkEveryLevel.esp
pnv.esp
FreeplayafterMQNVv1_6.esp
HarderThan.esp
xatmosSkillPerks.esp
Better Tag Skills.esp
hardcoe Rates (Refined-robpsychobob).esp
psychoelf lev stripping.esp
Sprint Mod.esp
Improved Throwing1.esp
Tailor Maid - NV.esp
Immersive Karma.esp
Realistic_Repair_NV.esp
Light Step ED-E.esp
noautoaim.esp
Fatality Tweaks.esp
RWD-NV v1.3 [Alternative Version].esp
Expanded Traits.esp
Weapon Mod Expansion.esp
Hardened-AWOP.esp
ELECTRO-CITY - Darker Nights.esp
CFWLWpnDmgIncTweaker.esp

I just discovered that my game was crashing before the main menu due to the Sprint mod.
