I want dual-wield sword & flail. Like the Witch King of Angmar.

Flails weren't used in battles, you say?

I hate to break it to you... but the 'limited amount of information' regarding their employment as military weapons doesn't equate to 'it didn't happen'.

As a general rule, it has been determined through many many tests done by both historians and military buffs alike, that the military application of a flail would be quite effective, and that the relative ease of use and the very minimal effort it takes to create one means that almost every infantryman and footsoldier of the middle ages could have been equipped with one if the need arose.

Sure, there are those who argue against it... but there are also folks who will challenge every damn thing when, in reality, there's not enough information to back it up.

And when it comes right down to it... this isn't reality, anyhow. Nobody cares about the history of medieval soldiers and whether or not they had flails... because this isn't the Dark Ages of Europe. This is Nirn, where flails are, in fact, a part of the history established within the game.

Flails? Yes. I would love some flails.

Now to get back my damn spear, and skewer me a dragon.

Flails worked well in Arena and Daggerfall because there wasn't a physics engine so they worked just as a sword, axe or any other weapon did. In a modern game using Havok, they'd be more difficult to implement because you'd have to get the physics down perfectly. They could be unique and very fun to use if Bethesda got it down right, but downright disastrous if they messed up.

Rock on.

They don't have to make them physics based, just make an animation for them like they're doing for all the other weapons. Plan for the several situations that might happen for it, and let it rip. It can't be as tough to do that as it would be to make any grapple move in a fighting game.
