should the arena make a come back?

I just hope the environment is a little more varied, not just the same circle with 4 pillars every time. They could open up grates, light a circle of fire around the players or just something more simple like barrels, after all I seem to remember them saying that the environment plays more into combat now.

I'm hoping that my acrobat character (now just agile :() can still run up the chains on those pillars :ninja:.

The thing that bugged me about the arena was the fact that so many people seemed to be willing to just wander in and fight to the death for other peoples entertainment...

which is why I think the trial by combat as a punishment for crimes would be an exccellent idea

An Arena? Naw. You're thinking about it all wrong.
This isn't carebear land like Cyrodill, this is the brutal snow covered land of Skyrim.
I'd think more along the lines of..some sort of brutal gladiatorial crucible of carnage. Not a freakin' Arena.

I'd love to see the arena come back! but In oblivion I didn't like how you could only fight once a week and all you could fight was some weenie monster. It was really boring after you beat it. I am hoping that if they bring back the arena, and after you beat it, you could fight at least once a day, and have new challengers that want to take on the champion. Have some challengers be harder then others. It would be good for an extra leveling option.

we could have prominent house holds that own the gladiators. have a few different house's in every town, each house has X amount of gladiators maybe even some of the meaner creatures. also every house hold has there own champion, and when he/she falls, the next best gladiator gets the tittle.

Someone's been watching Spartacus: Blood and Sand :hubbahubba:

Don't worry me too, never really watched it on Starz but as soon as Netflix got it I started and WOW the show is great.

I like the idea too. I enjoyed the Arena in Oblivion but if they wanted to revamp and take it to the max for the more brutal land of Skyrim it would be awesome.

I love the idea of the different Houses in the Cities. It would be another thing to make the cities richer and feel unique and feel like they have a living community in them.

The Champions of each house could be like your never ending supply of opponents. Kill one and another random generated Champion emerges at the House and then you can fight them too a week or so down the road. I like the idea of random generated though meaning their looks and more importantly fighting style and class are different each time. What weapons they'll use against you.

Anyways good idea. Even if it never makes it into the game I enjoyed thinking about it with all the possibilities :)

I know I'll probably be chased down by a bloodthirsty mob for putting this here, but I would love to see some sort of multiplayer component utilized through the arean system.

I would love the arena to be back, but I want more depth and I want it more difficult.

Fight fight fight, that's I hear around here. The game has enough fighting in it....

Howzabout snow sculpting, or wood carving? Eh? Since crafting is in, perhaps more of a turn to the creative arts instead of martial? Just think of the immerssiveness it'd bring ;)

This would be the ONLY implementation of multiplayer I would like to see in TES games.

Same. If they make it easy to implement it would be a very interesting addition, though.

A place with with blood, fights, swords, drinking and monsters. A place where two beings of the same sort can fight eachother. A place where you bet on lifes and the strongest survives.
That doesnt sound like the arena, thats sounds like Skyrim.

If they were to implement it as a judicial system, I think that they should make it so the enemies 1) get harder every time and 2) the difficulty depends on the crime (if you steal a 0 value spoon, you would fight a rag-tag pit dog, but if you massacre much of a city, you have to fight a platoon of guards E.G.).

Perhaps there should be an "I challenge you to a duel" guild. An arena is more Cyrodiil-specific (based on Roman gladiator fights), and there's rumors that you can challenge NPCs to a duel in the streets.

Personally I thought that the arena was one of oblivions' weakest points. Boring, repetative and relatively pointless. As for the reward, adoring fan on screen open console click on the idiot type disable, close console. Good riddance.

The arena was 'okay' but I felt it did need more complexity. It served more as a means to get money in the beginning of the game rather an actual guild. But I can say a lot of reasons why I thought the arena guild was a little lackluster. But, I do like the concept of an arena being placed in a nordic environment, that is an amazing theme to conceive.
