Apocalypse Theories

Post » Fri Jun 18, 2010 12:00 am

I was wondering if there are any apocalypse, end of the world theories floating around on Nirn. I remember reading about the gates of Oblivion opening and the daedra taking over Tamriel, was that only referring to the Oblivion Crisis? Or is there a more terrible event to come which includes all the Daedra, not just Dagon?

Can you remember what happened in the oblivion crisis?
Oblivion gates opened and daedra came out... that was exactly the prophecy...
also at the end of the crisis the barrier between the two reals was barred completely and I doubt the next MQ will involve daedra invading Tamriel....

But if that were true, how come you can enter the shivering isles?

Yes I had read that before, and I just read up on the thread about it. I think that may be what I had been looking for.

But then, the case is closed with the Oblivion Crisis, and it is ended? (I never played OB...).

Somewhere between the end of the OB and the beginning of the new TES book

Wouldn't the Godhead waking up be an apocolypse? I mean, everything would cease to exist, wouldn't it?

Or are we only looking at those that are prophecies?

There is the mention of a Skaal belief in "The End of Seasons" where the Adversary will be known as "Thartaag the World-Devourer" http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_Story_of_Aevar_Stone-Singer, although I don't know of any further lore on it.

Yes, technically you're right, but for discussion's sake, let's stick with existing prophesies and myths.

Plus, I dunno if it is conceivable for the godhead to awake...

Alduin isn't merely a devourer, he also starts the world. As such he resembles Satakal, a combination of Satak and Akal, or in the context of Aevar Stone Singer, a combination of the All-Maker and His Adversary.

It was my lazy answer, and I was tired.

God, in the sense of everything that is. You might also describe it as universe that encompasses the Aurbis, Anu and Padomay.

The end of the fifth era, everything will start over with only a single difference than what has already happened.

 Is this a Landfall thing? Or are you just making something up?

EDIT: Thought so.

EDIT AGAIN: I was reading the sermons of Vivec, when I came across something that might be relevant to this discussion:
I am Vehk, your protector and the protector of Red Mountain until the end of days, which are numbered 3333.

Is he simply speaking of Landfall, or something yet to come?

Making it up.

edit response: It looks like 3333 should be understood as "when the days are complete", like the Son. That's the only answer I'm comfortable with.

don't think there ever was, is, or will be a doomsday thing on Nirn(well, not in the meaning that its one final event where everything gets destroyed). remember World Eating 101?

Basically yes.

"Life is but a dream," or rather, "Existence is hallucination," to quote the great Sheogorath.
