Novels

Hello Forums!!
Tomorrow I am going out to the mall which has a book store and I'm thinking of buying the Elder Scrolls novel but not sure if its worth buying (No book spoilers please). The book is only 15 dollars so chances are I'll buy it anyway though.. Does it have any cool lore talk and such, the floating tower killing people doesn't sound very elder scrollish.....

It should be well written at least. Greg Keyes is very good.

I haven't read the TES book yet but I'm reading some of his others.

Get it at Amazon for ~$10 if you live in the US. And yes, I suggest you buy the book

really wrong forum, and this has been asked about 50 times in the right one.

over all, i'd say its worth renting at the very least. it does include quite a bit of lore info, but short of the stuff on umbiel (which likely wont matter much outside the books) its mostly things the lore community (or at least the crazy cultish part of us >.>) knew/suspected all along. the story is pretty good, and its an entertaining, although very short, read. its definitely cool to see Tamriel without engine limitations. read some excerpts online or at ye olde book store and get it on the cheap at amazon, or at the very least rent it at ye olde library.

As a reply to what a person said above about Umbiel not having much relevance outside the book, I think its quite the opposite; I believe that in the 2nd book, since it started in the Black Marsh, and moved over to Morrowind, it does not have many choices but to move to Cyrodill, or Skyrim.... Is it a coincidence that Skyrim happens to be the setting for the next game, as well as the fact that there is still one more book to be made for the series? I think not. It is probable in my opinion that the book will set off in a cliffhanger of the floating city stopping over Skyrim, where in the game you either -

a - Destroy the city so it can't devour anymore worlds
b - Begin work in the kitchens, (ONE of them anyways.... it would be maybe a faction-like sort of thing?) and eventually work your way up the ranks
c - kill the rulers, but have the city sort of stay in the area with no where left to go
d - Do absolutely nothing about it, and just sort of watch it in the sky

Of course I suppose its all in my opinion, and we'll see what actually happens in the book when the next one is released.

That would be so cool if we were able to get our own custom characters involved in the story. :D Damn now I'm all exited!

we know that Umbiel is heading toward the IC in order to use the white-gold to anchor itself back into Tamriel. I'm hoping it just falls right on the tower and the IC becomes a giant upside-down cone island from now on.

either way, there are 150 years between the novel and TES5. anything that is true in the books will likely have changed by the time of the game.
