Power DVD & FNV (CTD fix)

Post » Tue Jun 22, 2010 11:50 am

Well after reading my last 5 or 6 CTD reports
I found out

CyberLink\PowerDVD10\NavFilter\CLFLVSplitter.ax
CyberLink\PowerDVD10\NavFilter\CLRMSplitter.ax
CyberLink\PowerDVD10\AudioFilter\CLAudWizard.ax
CyberLink\PowerDVD10\AudioFilter\Claud.ax
CyberLink\PowerDVD10\AudioFilter\ComTruSurroundXT.dll

were active during the times of the crashes.

you may wish to uninstall PowerDVD or use an app call installedcodec to disable these while playing
I used the latter approach and I was CTD every 5 to 20 minutes and , just went 3 hours without.

Just a heads up.

VERY interesting. Thank you very much for this insight, I managed to play for a few minutes without crashing with AA enabled on full screen - finally! Will try more tomorrow.

edit: nah. Unfortunately, the game crashed again. Still, thanks for trying to help!

edit2: incidentally, how do you check which codecs were operative during the crash? My game crashes so that Dr Watson isn't invoked, but it asks me whether I'd like to send a report to Microsoft. I then view the info in XP Event Log, but I do not see which codecs were active during the crash.

You can find the info I posted some time ago

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1126211-suggestion-to-bethobsidian/page__p__16537514&#entry16537514

check to see if any on the list of items are outside the system32 or WOWsys32 folder
those may be your issue.
