MK thingy

Post » Mon Jun 28, 2010 1:05 am

a long time back I'm not sure but I went throught MK's post and copying all into a text document that I thought might be useful only problem I can't find the topic this post came from so don't know any discussion that went along with it. I might have missed the topic if I did please dirrect me to it. here is the whole quote from MK that I copyed. What does it mean?

The Prophet of the Landfall

He has come down from the mountains, the chitin of his belly segments freshly painted in Faith. The suns shine overhead, each uttering his name in their way. The barrens before him distort in the blur of their heat as he climbs the last hill, but his vision is clear. It always has been. His fifth and second arms encircle his staff as his mandibles click out a small prayer. Beyond the barrens lay the Crescent of the Eighty and One Thrones, and all the villages that hang from it like a jeweled belt. They do not know it yet, those millions that work, rule, and commit their countless sins out there in the cradle of all written history, but he will save them. In ones and twos, then in droves, and then their own priests and their own kings will throw down their false idols and take up the New Faith. He would permit himself some pride if that emotion occurred to him; instead, he tests his locust wings on the wind, permitting himself to glide into the first steps of Salvation.

It reminds me very much of the early beginnings of Christianity, and the only place I know of that places emphasis on Chitin is Morrowind, so my first guess would be Vivec. I'm also taking from the title, being Landfall as I know it is the Ministry of Truth's falling after Vivec left and the people stopped believing in him, though I haven't read the book yet. I'm sure someone that has will come along soon.

The Prophet is the Scarab; his arms the Walking Ways. The hill is an obstical, perhaps the Tower: I. He's going to bring the Faith, not just one or two, but all.

It's been observed that the http://www.imperial-library.info/dwemer/dwemer-image.jpg shares imagery with your quote.

any relationship to the scarab that turns into the new man?(which was also symbolised in redguard when cyrus changes a scarab into a man) how does this all fit together? or am I thinking too much into it?

The symbolism won't contradict itself.

I had something to say, but I think someone else's work in http://www.mwmythicmods.com/Archives/Lore/Mnemoli%27s%20Gate,%20The%20Hurling%20Disk.htm should aptly cover me... for now :P

@ Hairdo: You didn't find it in the search? Go http://www.imperial-library.info/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1226517265. Nalion seems to keep a complete record of MK's posts (that matter), so ask him. I will say, I've been thinking of that stuff lately, at least in relation to how Nords relate to time.

Can anyone find me the MK quote that starts off "Give birth to yourself and become a New Man." or something like that? It was one of my favorite Vivec quotes but I can't find it anywhere now.

Man, jackfrost, that link makes me horribly sad -- all the fascinatingly titled apocrypha it's linked to lead to 404s, a reminder of how sad it is to have lost Whirling School way back when. Any idea if any of those are saved somewhere?

Sorry, the only topics I've found from the Whirling School are in the obscure texts, near the bottom of the page. Morrowind Mythic Mods keeps a small inventory of the past forum too.

Maybe the Loveletter? "You in the Fourth Era have already witnessed many of the attempts at reaching the final subgradient of all AE, that state that exists beyond mortal death. The Numidium. The Endeavor. The Prolix Tower. CHIM. The Enantiomorph. The Scarab that Transforms into the New Man.

Simply put, as the Gods cannot know joy as mortals, their creation, so mortals may only understand the joy of Liberty by becoming the progenitors of the models that can make the jump past mortal death."

. . . "Those who do not fail become the New Men: an individual beyond all AE, unerased and all-being. Jumping beyond the last bridge of all existence is the Last Existence, The Eternal I."

. . . "The New Man becomes God becomes Amaranth, everlasting hypnogogic. Hallucinations become lucid under His eye and therefore, like all parents of their children, the Amaranth cherishes and adores all that is come from Him."

Isn't the Scarab also a symbol for Lorkhan? He's referenced as one in the Orc Creation Myth (Among others).

No..I'm sorry but that isn't it. The quotation I'm seeking contains phrases like "a thousand dead gods" "the rude customs of mortals" and "present boomerang shell/self" (don't remember which exactly).

I should also note, as many of you have probably already seen for yourselves, that MK was funneling some Nietzsche here.

By the Dwemer I believe. But no one else uses it I believe... except for House Dagoth, but I think it's for completely different reasons.

Wow..that one link is nice, Jackfrost...it'll probably take me a while to find that I'm after but some of those threads bring back memories.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the "Wulf=Talos" thread was preserved.

I'M sad because I'll never see any of that great information from the Whirling School that a few lore veterans have mentioned. Back when it was up, I didn't even give a crap about the lore...

Hell, we kept that thread alive on the forums for like three years - then the night watchman fell asleep and let it get eaten, sad day indeed, I blame AP...
