Most ethical egoist philosophies don't have "I ARE ALL WE" as a base metaphysical truth in the universe they are applied within

Are there any "egoist philosophies" that are taken seriously?

Consumerism seems to be pretty popular. :P

I'm not sure why it matters though. For a Daedra taught philosophy, selfishness being awesome is just a fine conclusion. For a universe that lost its sense of self, it's the ultimate solution. For anything out of this context, yea it's as trite as "E=MC^2".

I see so CHIM is where you solve all the mysteries of the universe. And then you decide that just sounding clever (even if only to yourself) is more important?

no, more like you realize and become everything, but you still retain your own individuality. Zero-Sum is the same, just without the individual part. And a consequence of the latter will cause you to disappear from existence.

Yeah, pretty much. The universe is contained within a bottle of rum. And we drink it to become it!

This is true. Its just as fundamental to TES as magick (literally):
"Your imagination and your willpower are the keys. There is no need for a spell to give you a resistance to air, or a resistance to flowers, and after you cast the charm, you must forget there is even a need for a spell to give you resistance to fire. Do not confuse what I am saying: resistance is not about ignoring the fire's reality. You will feel the substance of flame, the texture of it, its hunger, and even the heat of it, but you will know that it will not hurt or injure you... Fear does not break spells, but doubt and incompetence are the great enemies of any spellcaster."http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/2920.shtml#4

This is a good non-CHIM example. There is a realization here that accompanies the spell; the mindset is part of the magick. If you can understand this quotation then there's hope you will understand CHIM.

Ever wonder why Altmer have a high weakness to magick while Orcs have a resistance to it? Could it be because the Orcs are too stupid to know that the magick is supposed to hurt them? While the Altmer are convinced of its lethality?

That's a very interesting idea, but what about the rare spellcasting orc? Or stupid Altmer? They don't seem to have a different set of weaknesses. I agree more or less until that point though, and could point to the in-game book "breathing Water" as a good example, as well as some tidbits from the novel regarding Colin's magic.

Perhaps the racial examples have more to do with respective transformations (Orsimer into Orc, more specifically) than individual ability, or it's just another unfortunate case of gameplay-to-story segragation.

I've never been able to quite parse out the "another star" line either. Perhaps it refers to the 12 worlds of creation before they were all conglomerated into one?

Eh. But the digitals themselves are described as follows in this passage: "This is the advent of the first Digitals: mantellian, mnemolia, the aetherial realm of the etada. The Head of this order is Magnus, but he is not its Ward, for even he was subcreated by the birth of Akatosh." So the digitals appear to be et'ada.

Perhaps they call them Digitals because they are just digits (0s and 1s) in the Godhead (computer/game) which is dreaming (not achieved self-consciousness/AI) and is being visited by the ruling king (player character) who obviously has CHIM :D

Or not.
