Tech Support Response about Game Freezes

Post » Wed Jun 30, 2010 6:10 pm

I contacted Bethesda's Tech Support from their site. Here's the conversation:

Me: Fallout Vegas locks up at Hoover Dam and other places. It's happening so much I can't play this game with any enjoyment anymore. I've tried to finish the main quests but I can't. I tried to clear the cache, delete multiple saves, stopped saving multiple times, nothing is plugged into my USB ports, I cleared and reloaded the update. I am not able to get anything but a terrible experience trying to play this game and all I have is a 59.99 paperweight that locks up my XBOX 360. What is being done to correct this very frustrating issue? I really want this game to work properly because I do enjoy it when it plays right.

Tech Support: Are you connected to Xbox live?

Me: Yes, I'm connected to Xbox Live.

Tech Support; Please make sure you have the patch for the game by being connected to xbox live and are signed in.

Me: Sorry, I already stated that I did in my original submission:

"I cleared and reloaded the update..."

I'm always connected to Xbox Live.

What next???

Tech Support: Since you have tried all of the steps to fix this issue you may have to resort to previous saves and/or a new game. Your save games could have become corrupted. Please turn autosaves off and at worst try a new game.

Me: I've turned off all auto saves about a week or so ago. It didn't work. I deleted most of my old saves and kept 5. So now that I'm at the end of my main quest I have to quit and start over because of game software issues?

That's insane.

This issue is prevalent on the Fallout Vegas forums so I know it's not an isolated issue. Is there going to be another patch coming up to address the lock up/freezes issues?

Tech Support: I do not have any information on any new patches, sorry.

I then contacted Bethesda's Customer Service using their website with this information. No one has ever responded to me.

My conclusion is that Bethesda doesn't care about their customers. After this fiasco I will not buy another Bethesda game.

haha, i had the same problems and pretty much the exact same response. I was asking about getting ED-E back cos he is still a companion but not there. Told to roll back to earlier save or start new game. Told him i wasn't sure when i lost ED-E and also it was probably like 20 hrs ago, also was definately not going to start a new game after 90 hrs of play time. His response was you probably HAVE to roll back or start a new game and that the problem is probably unfixable. No apology or anything.

Maybe we need a class action lawsuit to get Bethesda to talk to us and get them to either fix this game or refund our money.

I agree. Every time i take the mod that allows me to see all locations the save will freeze with seconds. Some times longer but that save will crash every time. Same when you hit level 30, what ever you do don't hit level 30 as it will freeze as well. It was my best save, my favorite weapons and enough ammo to rule the world and now it's not playable.

I was able to play the DLC without problem but only once the other three times it froze as well.

I contacted my lawyer earlier this week about suing Bethesda. I am unable to play the game because of freezes, even with the patch. Customer support has been pathetic. Its like they read all of their responses off of the FAQ. He told me that a firm in VA is putting together a class action suit. I've told him that I want in. Money isn't an issue for me. I'm just sick of paying $60 to be a beta tester.

I'm in for the lawsuit as long as it makes Bethesda fix their game so we can play it without the games freezes or give me my money back for the game and DLC.

I haven't touched this game for weeks now because as their Tech Support stated I need to start a new game. I have a great setup with my character and weapons an perks. I don't want to start a new game now, I want to finish my first game.

I think if the PR was better we might be able to swallow this, though jagged it is. What bugs me is that there is nothing coming from anyone short a few snip bits here and there. I'm telling you, if they decided to give out some sweet DLC for free it might make us a little more forgiving and hold us over till the next up date. If nothing else, I think it is a slap on the face and a kick to the nuts to hear nothing.

I as well took all appropriate measures to play this game. I've attempted 3 different play throughs and started over each time around level 20 due to excess freezing. So far I've read from the forums that every thing has been attempted to play this game without issue and nothing works. I also would be satisfied with DLC compensation but as stated http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1165146-feb-22-dlc/ that won't happen! Hang in there guys, a refund would be nice!!

Edit: I'm on Ps3 but the issues are just as bad!! And starting a new game everything runs fine up until you reach level 2.

They need more than a slap on the wrist, and we need more than free DLC. The gaming industry needs to be sent a message: we're not paying out the wazoo to test your games!

My game will not save anymore. I have concluded DLC,a now on level 31. I'm hanging with Cass, and attempting to complete side quests. When I attempt to save the game, my XBOX 360 freezes. Very frustrating, cleared the cache and other fixes, but no luck. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I've pretty much given up playing video games for now. Between this bad experience and the PS3 version of COD" Black Ops I need a break and my money back for all of the time I wasted on these full version Beta tests.

My copy used to run great, then it started to freeze, I followed all the tech support and Microsoft advice and now it runs even worse! This ONLY happens with New Vegas! This was a birthday gift to me, and there is no joy in Mudville! My husband and very good friend scrimped and saved for months (we are all on limited incomes) so that they could pre-order the game, complete with deck of Caravan cards and the platinum chip. They know I love Fallout games, and now they feel terrible for having purchased it for me because of all these issues. None of my other games freeze, nor do any dvd's I play on the XBox, so we KNOW it isn't the XBox.

thank you for listening to my rant,

Highly disappointed in Salt Lake City, UT

Sorry to hear it Soveh. I completely understand because I'm in the same boat. Feel free to rant all you want, we'll listen even if Bethesda doesn't.

There appears to be an update on the Game Update thread dated February 7th. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1123613-game-updates/

If You Dont Like The Game Dont Play Its As Simple As That Dont Sit On Here And Whine About How Your Having Problems With The Game Or About How You Want To Sue A Company Because A Fairly New Game Has Bugs, Sit Tight And Wait For The Patches, If Your Too Impatient For That Then Go Get Another Game Or Go Back To Playing Tetris.

Sit tight and wait for the patches????? Are you kidding me? What the F do you think we've been doing? I bought this POS on the release date. Invested 80+ hours before the DLC bug screwed up that game. Downloaded the new "patch" managed to get about 60 hours in and nothing but problems to the point that it's unplayable. I think that I've been more than patient with this worthless game and the worthless company that is sitting on their a$$es counting my money. And ass clowns like you telling me that "It's a new game. It's going to have some bugs." is the stupidest thing that I've heard. These are not bugs, this game was not finished. Or at the very least not beta tested.

Tell you what. Send me $60 and I'll send you this stellar game. Hell I'll even throw in a free game guide.

Ignore Rogwat. Don't feed into its baiting for a fight. We have legitimate complaints about a product that doesn't work and want it fixed.
