Doctor Who Series 6 Discussion

Yep, I wasn't sure on the first part, but the second part was awesome.

Spoiler

I don't think it was a child Time lord.
I think the child has 3 parents - Amy, Rory, and the TARDIS.

Spoiler
Well that would definitely the simplest and clearest answer. You're probably right, I just wasn't sure whether she was really Amy's daughter. A picture with someone doesn't make them your parent.

I loved Dr. Who until the ending of either the 2nd or third season. It started getting a little confusing. I liked the guy that originally played Dr. Who in the first season. He was awesome!

I presume you're refering to ecclestone. I thought he was terrible and have blanked out that entire season from my memory.

The Doctor can have many personalities, but he just wasn't "The Doctor", he didn't seem to get who the doctor is.

Heh, I just realized that the Doctor basically just started a genocide. That's... Different. He's definitely not a hippie anymore.

But 3 Doctors is definately in the top 3.

I love the multi-Doctor crossover stories. I keep hoping they'll do one in the current run of the show. I think it would be really interesting to get McGann, Eccleston, Tennant & Smith all on screen at once.

Don't forget what those creatures kept saying: "Silence will fall." Well, now the Silence will fall. Hard. Unless, of course, they stay far away from humanity.

I am presuming that you presumed correctly! I am sorry you thought he was terrible, but I didn't. I thought he was brilliant actually. The guy that replaced him seemed a bit... too excited for my taste in acting.

Well, the new episode confirmed trans-gender regeneration (at the very beginning, when the Doctor describes the time lord with the snake tattoo). Ridiculous. If that ever happens to the Doctor...

Spelt like Eccleston the town, not Ecclestone the F1 boss.

I actually liked him, but I don't thik I could have put up with his psychotic streak for another season. I think he was right for the post apocalyptic Doctor.

They did one already, with Tennant and Davison.

And we finally got to see more of the http://www.kasterborous.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/dw-s6-bbcamericatrailer1-corridor-hp3.jpg again!

That would certainly be...different. It would make encounters with The Master...uhm...well, let's not go there. Seeing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Do-wDPoC6GM&feature=related was interesting enough.

That's what I loved about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7boeBf5pbQ What I'd really like to see is a Smith,Tennant, Eccleston, (and maybe McGann) crossover. Maybe they'll do something like that for the 50th anniversary.

This thread reminds me I haven't been watching Doctor Who much lately, the last time I watched it regularly was when David Tennant was the Doctor. The only Matt Smith episodes I've ever watched was the ones involving the Silence (forgot the names).

Am I the only one who wasn't too keen on Rose? She was okay, but her character eclipsed the Doctor, as it often seemed it was the Dr Who and Rose show. And as for her mother ... the most repulsive monster ever!

She was fine when 9 was running around, but I gotta admit I got a tad tired of her when it turned into a "10's true love" thing with Rose.

edit: Donna was probably the best companion from 10's run though. Though it did help that she didn't turn into a love-sick puppy.

No, I didn't care for her either. Seemed to be a case of going for name recognition rather than talent.

"Hullo, am Wose. Am just gonna tawk in a stupid faked cockney accent and fwown a lot at things I down't like".

Nah, I wasn't really fond of her. Even if it was funny having a kitsch mid 90s singer as a Doctor Who companion.

Martha is the abomination, and an example of why you don't make a character on a children's show an emotionless nymphomaniac.

Donna actually turned out to be a good character when Tate dialed down the ditz. She wasn't trying to get into the Doctor's pants all the time, and she actually seemed genuinely affected by hardship, unlike Martha who would shrug of death like it was just another barrier to six.

Rory and Amy I think are probably the best they've had since Ace was blowing up Daleks with RPGs. They both have relatively normal human personalities, they don't look like someone broke a table over their faces, and thank God, they're not cockneys!

Also that compared to the rest of the New Who companions, she didn't seem all that bright, especially considering she was supposed to be a freaking doctor. Rose at least managed to figure things out on her own from time-to-time, while Martha pretty much needed absolutely everything spelled out for her.

Anyway, I'm only up to the Black Spot episode, which I thought was alright. Kind of annoyed by how whenever the siren appeared they'd only bother to hold Rory back, even when they could have easily done it with roughly half the other "victims".
