Skyrim Suggestions

Post » Sun Jul 04, 2010 3:47 am

Ok, this is my first post ever on a forum, so bear with me if I did something wrong, I created this so we could discuss some features you guys would like to see in Skyrim realistically, meaning that if a Bethesda employee looked at this page, he might actually consider some of these ideas. Please don't post something ridiculous, like guns, multiplayer, or anything that would detract from the experience. (Multiplayer is not that ridiculous, but the Elder Scrolls series has not become what it is today because of a multiplayer, if you want multiplayer, play Cod or Halo or something.)

-Though the problem many elder scrolls games have had was that once you reached a certain level, You were rich, with thousands and even millions of gold, and nothing to spend it on, at the beginning of the game, you had to join a guild to earn it, but after becoming the master, you could afford everything, and there is very little to spend it on. Make things more expensive and add things or services that you pay for, even when you are a high level.

-Another thing, is I would like to see more quests with different outcomes. One thing that bothered me in Oblivion was that the different dialogue choices all eventually had the same result. One of the most egregious examples was in the tutorial dungeon, which a lot of the time you didn't even have a choice which dialogue to choose. Quests with different endings enhance the gaming experience and improve replay value substantially.

-I hope they add a few more quests to the guilds, they don't have to be complex, or tie in with the quest storyline, but it would make sense, that at the beginning you would do unimportant tasks, and then as you get more important in the guild, you get more important ones. Also related to the factions, the guilds should actually interact with each other and have conflicts, though they would have to create more factions (this suggestion is improbable to be implemented, as Bethesda is going to continue with the voice acting thing.)

- I would like to see a few more diverse weapons styles and armors in the game, because, while you do replace them as you level up, when you are at the highest level, you only really have two choices in armor, glass or daedric, and weapons I would like to see spears, throwing weapons, and a few of the weapons missing in morrowind. For spears, they could have a really long reach, but be very slow, this would tie in very well with the fact that now you walk backwards a lot slower. Throwing weapons could have an aiming factor involved (it could be hard to aim like it is in real life) and be dependent upon your strength as well (a strong person can throw it farther).

- I believe that they should also put a bigger focus on in game lore and literature, which is one of the things that really set morrowind apart from the oblivion the most and why there are legions of fans (myself included) that prefer Morrowind (though with mods).

- Also they shouldn't leave out content just so they can sell it later as dlc (the orrery, anyone), and flesh out vampires and possibly werewolves, seriously, they already did it in Bloodmoon, and Ill be pissed if they don't do it in the original game, but include it in an expansion.

- Make some more memorable quests. Oh and by the way, not all daedric realms look like Mehrunes Dagon deadlands, they should know this better than anyone, they made the freakin game.

- Lastly (and probably most unlikely to happen) I wish they would support the game more, either through more patches for console owners, or even possibly allowing console owners to download mods. The developers could just choose the best ones that fit in the game (unofficial patches, books, stuff like that), it would save them some work and they make a lot of fans happy. The longer support could be very beneficial because after a year or two, the tech for a game becomes easily upgradeable with more efficient, and/or better looking/performing technology.

Ok, this is a really long post, but its hard not to rant when this game has as much potential as it does, especially at this point in development when new ideas are being implemented. Please post your thoughts.

-Thank you for your patience

Isn't there already a Skyrim thread like this? That's spilled over into multiple threads?

Might want to check that...

Yeah, already covered:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1160482-console-mod-dlc-possibility/page__st__40

We like seeing the mods that are made by the community, but we have no plans to make them available as official releases.

Similar to Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3, the tools for Skyrim are PC only. There's no plans to release a version of the Creation Kit on consoles. If you're into modding, we suggest you go for the PC version.

Make things more expensive and add things or services that you pay for, even when you are a high level.

This is one of the things that bother me a lot, and it could be solved like this:

As the result of Oblivion crisis over the whole Tamriel and the fall of empire powers over the land, and the competitions and wars between the local governments and civil wars, the land is turned into a global anarchy with local feudalism thrown in in some places.

The economy is at its pit bottom, and good gear is getting rare and rarer, and only ring leaders and bosses can afford to wear and have some decent stuff, and most of the things that you find as loot are in bad shape, and are not worth a lot.

The good stuff are available but are very rare and should be treasured and some shops might have them but you would have to save for a long while to be able to afford them.

The skill masters should have steep fees for teaching you their arts, and each lesson should require you to save money for a while, and should help you better than just increase a skill level, might increase your learning speed of the skill for a while.

The skill perks should not be available freely at each level up, and you should pay steeply for them to their skill masters and maybe perform a quest for them, and the higher skill levels and higher level perks should be exponentially more costly for you to learn, and this single fact can provide a place for us to spend all the money that we acquire in the later stages of the game.

So we save our income to be able to pay the master to learn a new trick from him, and it would be satisfactory each time we are able to do this, as we are earning new tricks and are not wasting our dearly earned money.

The level-up sessions can open new perks for us yo learn, and we could upgrade our defenses and resistances and the like. Or upgrade one of our perks to a higher level one, maybe.

An expansion to the Editor on Consoles-

It's not that gamesas doesn't want to release the Editor on consoles, it's that the console owners themselves refuse to allow anything more proficient than a simple map editor or in-game editor (like Little Big Planet) on them. And no, Map Editors =/= Game Editor- it's like saying a Model T is a Nascar-grade vehicle- yeah, they both will get you accross the finish line, but one is a lot better at doing it.
