Lore Swear Words

Post » Tue Jul 06, 2010 6:33 pm

I am looking for some Lore swear words that I can use in my fan fic. I have had several scenes where I have had to really work to avoid the forum's swear filter, and can see plenty more like that in the future. If possible I would like to use some curse words that were made for the games. Like Battlestar Galactica has "frak". That will give the writing some added flavor, and avoid the [censored] tag all in one. I know the Dunmer have "s'wit" (although I am not sure exactly what that refers to), and "n'wah" which is practically an insult in Morrowind as it means "outlander". I have seen "fetcher" used as well.

My fiction is set in Cyrodiil though, so the characters should not be using a lot of Dunmer words.

Specifically I am looking for:

A word to replace manure as in "You piece of [blank]!"
A word to replace female dog as in "You son of a [blank]!"
A word to replace sixual activity as in "You [blanker]!"

If there are some lore words out there already that would be great. Otherwise I might end up having to invent some on my own.

Perhaps just weak insults from our own world?

Play through Oblivion and listen to a lot of the taunts, that should give you some ideas. Or, for example, things like "lizard" when dealing with Argonians, etc

You move like a pregnant cow!

In the Infernal City, Keyes makes up several swear words for the characters to use. I can't think of any of them off-hand though.

Tho most of those words are probably from the Argonian language - the characters are both from Lilmoth, Argonia, and many of those words have the "xh" sound combination, which doesn't sound very Cyrodiilic to me...

I also recommend playing thru OB. Just swing the difficulty level all the way down and listen to everything the NPCs say :embarrass:

Kaoc' and Xhuth are apparently in the Jet language of Argonians, and seem to mean something at least on par with the f-bomb in severity if not literal meaning. Bastard is bastard, or child born out of wedlock. Most words are at the moment assumed to be the same.

Oh, and [censored] is still [censored], as in man-chicken, also as in a man's danglies.

On Umbriel itself, Sumpslurry would be the equivalent of shouting "Jizz on your shoes!" or something.

S'wit is our S word.

Fetcher is our F word.

And N'wah is your N word, but N word priveledges do not apparently apply.

High Elves are called Goldenrods.

Humans get called smoothskins by the Argonians. ( I think- this may be fallout ghouls, but I'm sure the argoinans have said it)

Argonians get called greenskins by a khajit in Leyawiin.

The Dunmer Prisoner in Oblivion calls Bretons "snotty".

I believe the elves call humans blunt ears.

Redguards I believe get called goat herders.

As for standard Sweaarwords, I have heard damn, hell and bastard.

Then theres a daggerfall book that uses the phrase "have him by the balls".

The ghouls in Fallout 3 definitely do say it, and I've personally never heard an Argonian say it, but I could be wrong.

FYI, in the Infernal City, Glim refers to Bretons (and presumably all non-argonians) as "Gaspers."

Correct, but to anyone not argonian. Well in Morrowind, female said smoothskin, male say warmblood.

The ghouls in Fallout 3 definitely do say it, and I've personally never heard an Argonian say it, but I could be wrong.

Its in Morrowind voiced dialogue. Get about 50 Disposition from a female argonian and they will use an idle talk (greeting) with it.
