Running FCOM, Oblivion CTD when changing armour

Hey all,

So I have recently decided to give Oblivion another playthrough, and thought I'd give FCOM a tackle. So I have followed the guides from the official site and the unofficial topic on this forum (I'm using UFCOM atm). It runs very stable, short of one CTD I had when making a save at the start of the game, I don't crash at all (unbelieveable all this stuff works together). But whenever I take off my armour, or put another piece on, it has a high chance of crashing to desktop. It usually happens after I have been playing for a while, a freshly loaded game never does it. And it seems to happen more often on larger pieces of armour (cuirass and greaves). I think it has something to do with viewing my character without armour (causes a memory leak or something)? This also happened on an older version of FCOM, so whatever I'm doing wrong I must be still doing it even after full reinstalls.

I thought DR was supposed to be loaded AFTER Bashed Patch? If it matters I manually put DR after Bashed Patch because it seems to make more sense.

IIRC deadly reflex should load after the bashed patch, move it after the bashed patch and see what happens

Yeah I did that manually, dunno why BOSS puts bashed after it. Regardless I doubt DR is causing this.

EDIT: This also happened on an older version of FCOM, so whatever I'm doing wrong I must be still doing it even after full reinstalls.

This used to be an issue which we thought had been corrected with some WarCry armour item sets.
Is it unique to these or is it happening with all armours?

Sounds like an overload issue as it only happens after playing for a while. Does it "only" CTD when changing armor - or is it prone to CTD after playing for a while in other circumstances?

Also, repost your load order via Wrye Bash instead: Right-click File-header > List mods > Paste

I can't recall it ever CTDing randomly, only when changing armour.

Opening Wyre Bash always resets the dates on the mods for some reason and breaks my load order btw so that won't work. I'm also using the stutter remover obse plugin btw. Could be causing an overload?

Make sure Lock Times is turned off in Wrye Bash, e.g. unchecked when Right-clicking the File-header. If unchecked, Wrye Bash won't reset dates. Rerun BOSS if needed.

KK I have the load order sorted in Wyre Bash, I have rebuilt the patch according to the UFCOM thread as I think I had done it wrong earlier. Played for about 15 mins swapping out armour randomly and no CTD so far. I'll update with further results later.

Guess the Bashed Patch might have been messed up if the load order got jumbled up by lock times when loading Wrye Bash. Hope that fixed it.

Wrye Bash is my main utility - I run BAIN (of course), TES4LODGen and BOSS via it. And it gives the most useful load order list when having issues as well - as it has version numbers and also shows imported/merged but unchecked mods.

BTW, if you meant "about 15 mins" with "playing for a while" I doubt it is overload related after all.

Turn off autosave on wait/travel/rest if you haven't already. It's known to cause CTDs, esp. when using lots of mods.
