Preorder or not?

Post » Tue Jul 20, 2010 4:51 am

So i wanna preorder but knowing steam theyll have a sale after it comes out and im jsut wondering what are the benefits of the preorder on steam.

I know you get the tattoo which looks average
You get the Gun which looks slightly better but no better damage etc.
You get the Mask which is kinda cool but depend on if i go with that look.
You get the Scopes which i think is kick [censored] and would love.

ALSO and this is a BIG one.
WILL THESE ITEMS BE AVAILABLE AS DLC OR IN A SHOP?

If so then i dont care.

Also how quickly do you thin these things will become obsolete?

Does anyone think its worth it not worth for some reason or another?

Personally I would order from direct2drive, they have 25% off deal going on today. Which is then activated through steam.

You get preorder psycho pack, just a cosmetic look. They will not be available in any kind of shop or whatever..

I personally think its worth it, thats my opinion though, you may not like it, if you like TDM FPS games like COD where you just kill stuff and watch your kdr rack up, you will not like this game, its more about objectives and teamwork.

The game is already $50, what sale are you expecting (maybe I'm just a newb with this, for my Xbox I pay $60 for the "premium" games).

No, those items will not be available in a DLC.

They become obsolete immediately, seeing as people just dismiss you and insult you if you actually wear them.

I think it is worth it simply because I got to preload the game and will be playing it tomorrow night as soon as it unlocks.

Wholeheartedly seconded! I doubt you'll see any deal this good in the next few months. If there is a deal better, it probably won't be by much. I think it comes out to around $35, which is pretty great for a new game.

And it all goes to the same place, since it's Steamworks. You'll get a code which you can activate through Steam, which will give you the pre-load option as well. :)

EDIT: Sorry, I was mainly responding to the first line as well. The pre-order stuff is just an added bonus if you ask me. Nothing game changing, although some of it looks rather cool. I'll likely be using the Psycho tattoo a lot, and the revolver when I'm a light, and the silencer when I want a silencer. Nothing game changing, as I said, but rather cool. So if you're worried about missing out on a sale, get it from D2D for cheap and get the pre-order Psycho Pack. Win win. :)

Thanks for all the posts but i prefer the specops pack.
Im from Australia and the game is selling for $89.99 even though due to exchange rates its $85.
THe D2D is not available for Australia
The sale is usually 10% on all new games that come out on steam so not massive but a good $8 or so dollars.
If they do nothing but are not available for DLC i might just get it.
As its the first game ive ever thought worthy of a preorder but TBH i do hate that you cant pick some different items.
Imagine if we got a list of things only available to preorderers?
