Seems we′re going BTTR

I personally believe that Skyrim will be its own unique game. It'll take cues from its predecessor and will definitely improve upon them.

Me too.

A small thing, but maybe combine combat from both games. Oblivions was kinda boring, but swinging a sword had the sword hitting who was infront of it. Morrowind encouraged you to move more with the thrusting, slashing, etc mechanic but swords were apparently intangible some times. Keep the possitive, dispose of the negatives.

thread is very biased. How about putting in one where the people that liked oblivion and not morrowind as an option... hmmm...

Other- I think that it will be its own game and that none of us can tell until we see some more gameplay, characters, and... well... you know.... MORE.

I will be overjoyed if Skyrim turns out to be drawing largely from Morrowind. That being said, Bethesda is always trying to create an experience unlike any they've made before, so I don't think we can assume that it will be too much like any of their past games.

Best case scenario for me: Skyrim is like a supercharged, overhauled, and redecorated Morrowind
Best case scenario for Bethesda and the industry: Skyrim is an entirely new game unlike any they've produced before. I would like this one, too.
Worst case scenario for me: Skyrim is massively mainstreamed and dumbed-down for the sake of marketability.
Worst case scenario for Bethesda and the industry: ... Skyrim is never released? I don't know.

I think most of you have noticed that stuff:

- The Akatosh symbol, is back on the Cover. (The Dragon shaped thing)
- The music in the last trailer is similar to Morrowind′s Main Theme.
- The drum sounds in the beginning of the Skyrim theme sound very similar to the drums of Morrowind′s theme.
- It is said that Skyrim will have more uniqueness in many sections like culture, gameworld... (Morrowind was extremely unique)
- Back to hand craftet game world!
- You′re the Chosen one, like in Morrowind. In Oblivion you were more of a helping hand.
- Skyrim′s story is more like a Prophecy, and you slowly realize that you′re the Dragonborn (like the Neravarine in Morrowind)
- Races are said to look more different from each other. (Damn, i hope those Argonian legs aren′t straight...)

Stuff that sounds more like Oblivion:

- Skill System more easy (but it sounds very interesting so far, imho)
- Some skills got cancelled again
- More focus on Action like COD (reminds me of COD because of that intense first person footage where you can see your hands while stabbing someone _in a special move_)

It seems that Bethesda is trying to make clear that they want to add Morrowind′s uniqueness and story + Oblivion′s Action and graphics.

Or is Skyrim just Skyrim and do you think it will be entirely different and nothing in the game will remind you of Morrowind or Oblivion?

Didn't some of the interviews already state it wont be fantasy like Morrowind? That the setting is more like Oblivion?

And while I hope they pick up on alot of what made Morrowind exceptionally good, I'm just not feeling it. I'm seeing much more of Oblivion emulation, except taken even further.

Also, I find it hilarious six people totally fessed up that they voted without actually providing the courtesy of reading your post.

I think Skyrim will have a mixture of both Morrowind and Oblivion in it. Also keep in mind that Skyrim has a completely new gaming engine too.

So what elements is Skyrim implementing from Arena since we are going "back to the roots"?

I really doubt it would be like Morrowind or Oblivion, Oblivions atmosphere was mainly related to the storyline, so you could see the contrast between Oblivion and cyrodil. Morrowind, you were a hero but really looked down upon so the atmosphere is kinda bleak and depressing. Skyrim will probably be something different, probably more a feeling of war more than anything.
