Will Skyrim be like New Vegas?

Am I the only one who didn't experience these "gamebreaking bugs" in new vegas?

Nope.

I don't even know what people mean by 'gamebreaking bugs. I've played New Vegas for 82 hours so far and had very little problem (just the occasional crash due to some stupid thing that Windows did)

New Vegas was fine for a while (about 20 hours) And then the bugs hit. Things like automatically firing my gun no matter what. Magical teleporting scorpions. And the inability to fast travel. But it was fixed almost instantly. However if it was like the Oblivion launch with little to no bugs I will be happy.

If only there was a way for Bethesda to post updates on the game, so when a major bug is noticed, it is fixed not too long afterwards... Oh, wait...

And I don't want Skyrim to be postponed 3 years just because they spend a lot of time fixing a bug that ocan easily be prevent or fixed while in game.

But I didn't notice anything major or gamebreaking with Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout: 3, or Fallout: New Vegas. Just a few occasional crashes with Morrowind but nothing that bad.

I played New Vegas for 90 hours and didn't encounter any bug. And I have been playing since version 1.0. Even Oblivion was bugfree for for the most part. I'm sure that any problems that do come up will be fixed by Bethesda as soon as they can.

New vegas was fine, i was playing on the 360, in fact i am playing it right now and the only bug i ever ran into was a scorpion stuck in the ground.

If you are so paranoid about bugs then wait for the first patch, which im sure is not necesarry, i have never been worried about skyrim, just curious.

I play on the 360 as well and had a glitch that made the game unplayable but it got fixed in the patch a couple of days later. i am not concerned at all.

@OP: You're an idiot. Obsidian made NV, not Bethesda. Bethesda published it. Look it up.

To the other "brilliant" people who said Bethesda did QA: No, they did not, beyond a quick runthrough to make sure the game was ready to go gold. Obsidian has their own QA department and gamesas is a very hands-off publisher.

nice way to flame somebody for making an honest point. Bethesda was responsible for the QA (or lack there of) and they are the publisher so they are responsible to make sure a solid product is developed.
Obsidian is only to blame for writing an excellent story and making an awesome fallout game, sure they made some mistakes, but Bethesda is responsible for the final product becasue as you are so eager to point out they published it so it is their product.

I never experienced any gamebreaking bugs in New Vegas or Fallout 3{aside from The Pitt DLC}. I have a friend who had one with Fallout 3. But Skyrim will have some bugs. Any large scale game like an ES or Fallout is gonna have them. But i doubt there will be any gamebreaking ones

I do hope that Skyrim is like New Vegas in terms of the quanitity and depth of quests and side-quests. I do however doubt they can make it as buggy as New Vegas even if they try. It is almost as if Obsidian makes their games buggy on purpose.

This I agree with, however I sincerely hope they do not take a hint from them regarding meaningful exploration and enemies (or lack thereof)...or having those horrendous invisible walls everywhere :whistling:

The only gamebreaking bug I have ever had in a Beth-game was the Animation-Glitch (Abomb) in OB. It was never patched and has kept me from playing that game ever since (sadly, cause I loved OB). In NV I had no troubles the first 80 hours, but then I got hit hardly with all kind of stupid glitches who just made me give it up because it was too frustrating. Now I'm playing Morrowind/Bloodmoon/Tribunal on PC and it runs smoothly. 40 hours so far, and not a single crash or glitch. Very satisfactory.
I don't expect Skyrim to be bugfree, and it dosen't have to. But if there's something like the Abomb-glitch from Oblivion in it, I will get very dissapointet.

(And btw, I know NV is made by Obsidian, so don't yell 'idiot' at me or whatever some of you think is appropriate calling fellow forum members. Not for that reason anyway...)

no. In 80 hours Ive had about 3 freezes and the odd scorpion stuck in the ground.

Same here. Only they I ever get in NV is freezing occasionally and some visual clipping. Nothing game breaking at all, and I've played it for well over 100 hours. Guess we're just lucky or some people actually consider freezing and visual hiccups to be gamebreaking.

I don't think we will see those issues, after Fallout3 they hired a new head of QA and I'm sure they have staffed-up.

If anything, the New Vegas experience would be enough to push BGS to improve QA even more, considering that Vegas didn't win the kinds of accolades that Fallout3 did, largely due to the bugs. I mean OB and Fo3 had bugs, but most of the initial reviews of New Vegas were filled with slams about them - and I think this hurt the game in the ratings last year.

If nothing else, Vegas was a lesson that Yes, bugs can hurt the franchise. Good incentive if you ask me. :)
