Where are the cherry bombs?

Post » Tue Aug 03, 2010 8:08 pm

The Bottlecap Mine was one of my favorite things to use in Fallout 3, but in New Vegas I have found 10 cherry bombs in 70 hours of play. It's bad enough you need a 75 in explosives to make the Bottlecap Mines, but it takes 5 cherry bombs per mine.

I've noticed lunchboxes are few and far between as well. In F3 you only needed one cherry bomb to make a bottlecap mine, and so could crank out ridiculous amounts of the things. IMO by making bottlecap mine components scarce, the FNV devs are forcing you to become more reliant on standard mines and the new powder charges. I know I've had to rethink many of my F3 strategies, which were getting me killed in FNV. I like the new changes though; the game is much more of a challenge now..

Lunchboxes are scattered around, and you some things can only be crafted after you find schematics.

Spoiler
There is only one that lays loose on the ground, all the others are given to the player via scripts - so they are probably quest rewards. I don't remember if any of them were found on vendor's lists or not.

I've found quite a few lunch boxes. I can't remember specific locations, but buildings are your best bet. I've run into storage shelves that would have 4-5 lunch boxes at once on them.

Nothing beats the Holy Hand Grenades they are like Nuke Grenades. Can only get them with Wild Wasteland trait, and only in one town in the basemant of a church.

Cherry bombs are very hard to find in this game. After 30 hours I've only found 7 cherry bombs in random containers/mailboxes and about 5 lunchboxes.

Dinky the T. Rex gift shop has like 4 or 5 lunch boxes you can steal (not purchasable). I've found many more in my travels, but I don't collect or pick them up at all.

Cherry bombs are often found inside mail boxes, like in Primm's Mojave Express, the ones scattered around New Vegas and so on.

I personally prefer C4.

You can pickpocket one of those from the Centurion in Cottonwood Cove. And I think about 10 hours into the game I have like 30 or so Dogtags without having ever fought NCR Troopers. Sneak ftw.
