Alright guys it seems nobody has seen this yet or haven't noticed as there are no topics about it. In the newest trailer look closely at 1:20 and look at the man chopping wood. After he cuts the piece of wood you can see it fall down in two pieces. Even though it's something small it really adds to the immersion.
Yeah, i'm not totally sure about magnificent discovery but nice spot. It all depends on what happens to the two pieces of wood afterwards. Are they all collected up one by one?? When i get the game, and when i first reach that location, i'm gonna check it out!
I saw this the first time I looked at the trailer. And yes, it's nice. But it's not something incredible or anything. It's destructive environment technology (or something alike), which is years old, added to a piece of wood. All modern games have this, pretty much.
It's still nice. Gives us a little more hope that there will be more destructive things in the world
I doubt it. I don't see us cutting wood and then carrying like ten individual pieces of wood. How would this work in our inventory and encumberence?
1) The wood would still weight the same. It doesn't get any heavier just because they are in smaller pieces... 2) Concerning the inventory, the wood pieces could stack. So that if you have picked up 5 firewood pieces, they could stack like 5 arrows would in your inventory.

Yeh I think they put that in to give an example of what you would be doing when chopping wood for a job, will probably chop it then collect the pieces and put them in a pile
what i want to know is... if i spent a few hours chopping wood will my strength increase, although i will find it difficult to wield my sword properly due to painful hands?
I hope all NPCs work is for something actual. If they cut wood they should carry it, stack it then take it and put some in the fire or use it for building. If an NPC is hammering on some fence or house than it should show results.
I liked the NPC work in the Gothic games but they would saw on the same piece of wood or hammer the same nail non stop the entire game.
With Skyrims new AI hopefully everything has a purpose.
Red dead did a neat trick like that. A guy would repair a fence but the pieces would pop in on the object after he was done and the item in his hand would disappear but the missing piece would pop in at the same time. Giving it the illusion of getting fixed. Same with wanted posters. If you used these tricks with Skyrim's inventory systems for NPCs you could get some cool results. You just have to be creative.

...Are you serious?
If you take a piece of wood and cut it in two, you don't double the weight, you simply have two pieces. Those pieces would stack in the inventory, how is this an issue?
It's certainly a nice feature that will make the world more believable. I'll be interested to see what other little features like this Bethesda will include.
I love little details like this,Red dead redemption was full of them. It just goes to show you don't need a super gaming computer to make an immersible world full of little nuances. You just need to be creative about its implementation.
