I like the background music to sit, well, in the background, and I think Oblivion did a good job with that, once you had turned it down a notch or two in the options, and as long as there were no mudcrabs about. It's all very well listening to the Skyrim music in isolation, but I think you have to wait to see whether it enhances, or intrudes, while actually playing, to judge it fully.
