Trees...?

That's pretty obvious, yeah. But I'm talking about pine trees only. There should be a much greater variety in shape and "structure" in them.

Why? Have you seen any real pine forests?? They all look nigh on identical.

Don't imply that I'm stupid. I linked you a couple of images showing the uniqueness of different regions. And I have a house in a pine forest.

Just because it's a pine forest = doesn't mean they all look the same. Definitely not.
Especially not if it's different regions. Have you seen any real pine forests??

I want more unique trees: http://nsidc.org/frozenground/images/Drunken_trees.jpg

This looks almost identical to the forest screenshot with the stone head. By 'unique' I guess you're referring to the dead lopsided tree? I'm sure we'll see plenty of those, fallen as well.

I want some more thick trees: http://www.maytreeenterprises.com/images/MAYTREE%20PHOTOS%20DISK%200206/Species%20Photos/8%27%20FRASER%20FIR%202-05.JPG

That's a Norway Spruce (Xmas tree) I think. You might see some of these in southern Skyrim, but they don't grow too well in snow ironically. Cool climates are perfect for them, but not frozen environments. Because of their popularity at xmas, they're now found almost everywhere as a plantation species though. Naturally, they aren't all that widespread. No reason we won't see some in southern Skyrim though.

I want some thicker forest: http://www.skogeniskolan.se/bildbank/bilder/granskog%20och%20tj%C3%A4rn1.jpg

That's thicker because of 'edge effect'. These trees can get sunlight to their lower branches because they're exposed to it here. Move past these edge trees and into the forest itself though, and I promise you they'll thin out due to the lack of sunlight. I do hope we'll see edge effect in Skyrim though, since it was absent in Oblivion's forests. Basically, the edge of a woodland/forest should look significantly thicker than the interior (just like your photo). We'll see in November.

In other words, I want more variety!
Thick pine trees look AWESOME with dynamic shadows (if implemented in the right way...). That's one of the reasons I want them.
Just look at this. They're stunning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8Re377ol0g

Crysis is always going to look better than Skyrim, sorry :( I agree that the lighting and shadows are key, so hopefully someone can create an awesome lighting mod for Skyrim if the vanilla system isn't quite up to scratch. Kind of like the Real Lifesis lighting mod for Crysis, which is probably being used in this video.

Looking at these pictures, the "structure" of the trees feel almost exactly the same, despite most of them obviously being different regions:

That's northern climates for you. You just won't find broadleaf trees up there. Needles evolved for a reason. It's far too cold for deciduous plantlife, so conifers colonize. That doesn't mean they can't look http://bioweb.uwlax.edu/bio203/s2009/nelson_lau4/boreal%20forest%20dr%20volk.jpg though! We've seen screenshots of Silver Birch too by the way, the white bark and golden leaved forest. They are very versatile and widespread trees, one of the first to colonize Great Britain after the last ice age, and quite capable of growing in southern Skyrim. http://cache.virtualtourist.com/414732-Boreal_forest_in_autumn-Edmonton.jpg, to show just how well Bethesda is doing at creating ecological sound forests.

Bolded my replies in the quote. Saved time ;)

How do we know if it's different regions? I've linked a couple of pictures where the trees looked pretty similar. And yes, I've seen a pine forest. Sure there was a bit of variation but nothing enough to want anything changed. It's not as if it's a rainforest and all the trees are dramatically different and there are lot's of different species.

That's because all the pine trees you've seen in the trailer and screenshots are from the same region.

Concerning the different-region part:

All the dragon scenes are in the same region, obviously.
But the scene at 1:14 certainly isn't.
Neither is 1:20.
Probably not 1:25 either.
Unsure about 1:27 and 1:28, but I'm guessing they are different regions as well. But not sure.
1:32 and 1:41 are definitely different regions (at least 1:41, most likely 1:32 too).

Yet I still get the feeling that all the trees have the same structure, but some are a bit taller than the other, and having bransches pointing at different directions. I see no "unique"-feeling of pine trees as it should be. There's always a similarity for pine trees. Always, but they can still look unique in their shapes and structures. I know lulz, I own a house and a huge pine forest...

All I want to see is more variety in them. A few trees half-fallen, a few thicker, a few thinner, a few weird-looking. Etc. Etc.
