If it's done right, then yes. If it's simplistic where hunters pop out of a hunter factory every 3 days to whack me, then no.
To elaborate, I don't think that people should be trying to kill you just because you're a very good, or very bad person in general. That doesn't really make any sense. I think that in order for someone to want you dead, and have the means and desire to see it through, you would have to have screwed with the wrong faction or NPC. So in that sense, only a set number of NPCs or factions would have the capacity or desire to hire an assassin. One, they'd have to have the coin to hire, where I would think that assassins would come at a high price. And two, they'd have to have it in their personality for that kind of revenge.
For example, if you were to disrupt the illegal operations of a crime syndicate, they probably wouldn't care too much for that. They certainly would have the wherewithal and desire to put you in a river as well. Whether they hire an assassin to deal with you, or send some of their muscle, that would be up to them. But it shouldn't be an endless stream of people coming after you either. Maybe one or two attempts before they don't think you're worth the trouble anymore.
But the point is, simply being good or bad shouldn't result in attempts on your life. You should have to actually do something that would illicit that degree of revenge.
