Gender-Specific Clothes

Post » Fri Aug 20, 2010 11:48 pm

One thing that bugged me in Oblivion was that, say your character was female. You killed someone wearing some trousers for example. You loot the trousers, equip them yourself and it magically turns into a skirt. And, if you were male, and you killed someone wearing a skirt. You kill them, loot the skirt, equip it and it magically turns into trousers.

What i'm suggesting is that you can get Skirts and Trousers/Shorts as separate items. Which means the men could wear the skirts, and the women can wear trousers or shorts. I don't think this would be too hard to implement?

I thought it was obvious that the Player Character is a Master Taylor who can turn pants to skirts and skirts to pants in the blink of an eye.

I like the idea of men wearing skirts.

It would be easy to implement. In Oblivion each clothing item had a Male and Female mesh. So all you do is duplicate the item, And put the Male mesh on both male and female mesh slots on one and then do the same thing with the Female mesh on the other. Check the Use data on the original item and readjust the loot tables. Easy as pie, so no reason for it not to be done in Skyrim.

It's been a while since I played a Fable game, but didn't they have gender specific clothing? (IE you could wear of dress if you are male) It would be interesting if Bethesda did that, but I don't really see the point unless you WANT to crossdress.

Aye, in Fable there was gender-specifc clothing. I was playing F3 earlier and it's what gave me the brainwave to post about it here.

The buzzword of the forum is immersion lol. People want the option to be available strictly because they don't like the fact that the clothes magically change. I agree, although I care much less about immersion than the average forum user here.

I definitely agree. It was really frustrating when I'd be playing a female character, then see some stylish pants, but then when I equip them they end up being a skirt. Same goes for men with skirts.

There should never be gender-specific clothing in any game. Never.

If I'm playing a dude and I want to dress like a woman, then I want to dress like a woman! Same goes vice versa.

Indeed, My badass female characters wouldn't be wearing skirts and dresses around with a battle axe strapped to her back. Give her some functional man pants damn it!

And give me some mini skirts for the sixy nords! Something like the guardians in Shivering Isles.
