God is in the details...

...and the Bethesda development team lives on Mount Olympus.

But living so high up creating an entire world, even they can sometimes miss some details that those living (playing) in their world would deem obvious. Thank goodness they left the world open to be tinkered with and the modders quickly fill in these voids.

While I am not sure if Bethesda's dev team ever reveiws more popular mods, IF they did what, mods would you hope they would impliment into the vinilla game? This thred is to discuss user created mods. NOT mods that overhauled the game in any way (like leveling mods for example). But rather, spacificly, minor ones that simply added another lever of realism. This of course is all in fun. It's easy for all of us 'armchair designers' to make demands. But as one popular gameing site review of Oblvion once said. 'The more real something is, the more real we want to see it."

For example, here are a few user created mods for TES:Oblivion that I personally would hope to see in Skyrim OOB:

1) Assuming the actual process of leveling up is still done through sleeping, I'm hoping we will be able to see our charecters actaully crawl (or fall) into a nice warm bed after a harrowing day of adventure. In Oblivion we always got to see NPC's in the blissful relm of sleep but all our poor characters could do was stare longingly at any given bed till morning. This was later fixed by a mod and and we could finallly sleep (perchance to dream?)

2) While I'm not sure the implimentation of this next mod was simple, the end effect, while simple, got me wanting to explore Cyrodiil all over again. OOB when inside a tavern or shop, if you looked out a window you were treated with an ominous pane of, quite noticably, ahh... shall we say, non-transparent glass. With the flick of a wrist and install of a mod I could now look 'out' a window and remember I was still part of a larger world.

3) While it sounds and looks as if we will be treated to a world blessedly free of people with cookie cutter physiques in Skyrim. One Oblivion mod let my characters physical frame grow with his strength attribute. Now I could start out as a lowly twing in a forgotten prison cell and 'grow' to become a formidable.....gym bunny. All that sword wielding finally had a 'physically' visual payoff...sawweeeeet!

I'm sure there are a few more I could put down, but this is what I would start with.

Travellers. Just... travelers. The world should not be an empty place. I don't want travelers I'll ever meet again, though that'd be nice, just people to walk the roads with me.

What if they included Skyrim Script Editor (SKYSE) into the construction set, so it did not have to be created by ingenious modders?

You are talking about MODs, and MODs are for PCs that have key boards.

BGS makes the game for PC and two different console platforms, and have to compromise a lot of incompatible options.

There are Keyboards for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 and if they don't want to spend $15-45 dollars on one they can just use the controller and an on-screen interface, but of course, if PC users really want it they can mod it.

A standardized format which works like Oblivion Mod Manager or BAIN.

Would certainly make things way smoother.

Edit: Not much of an immersion mod, but it'll get you immersed in other people's mods faster =P

Have you ever tried using the on-screen interface to write more than single words? Writing a few sentences could take 10 minutes easy. And if you're gonna have a keyboard for your Xbox, you might as well get it for PC. I don't think they should take time to create features for everyone but usable by only half of their playerbase. There are better things they could spend that time doing.

Like DLC's who aren't "usable by only half of their playerbase" -YOU, we ps3 owners couldn't even get dlc's for our system! :banghead: where's our damn "I don't think they should take time to create features for everyone but usable by only half of their playerbase." -YOU AGAIN... "There are better things they could spend that time doing." -YOU... if they hadn't made 'em DLC's they would be able to start working on Skyrim faster and implerment werewolves and werebears! :banghead: ...and yes I have tried using a on-screen interface to write more than single words... ánd yes a few sentences could take 10 mintutes... to bad... :banghead:

They do look at the mods. For instance they made bows much more powerful in Skyrim cause of a mod for Oblivion.

About Immersion, nice to see some good features like

Keychain
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3409
So keys will not cluttering inventory again
Actually use key to close doors
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27719
Changing locks in doors after being lockpiked after some time
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33630

Clutter must have different value no more worthless clutter.

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26288
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13085
No more magical hammers and pocket anvils, actually reforging and smiting if player cant do thats player can use NPC service cost of service and time of restore armor can be differ and has affected by cost of item current durability state and skill of NPC, Fighter guild can lend some discounts for their members some nice Armorer perks from Oblivion can still be applied like (ability repair magic items, ability can repair items beyond their highest condition, improved weapons do extra damage (but have lowered durability if material isn't good) , and improved armor protects more (reinforced armors can have altered weight) but also armorer skill affect how fast armor degrade in combat.
Armorer skill must allow to forge own armor and weapons, since we already have smith why not allow player create some new armor out ores pelts bones and other materials, at last give them to an NPC for forging service.

First person messages
