So may you be a barbaric killer/vampire/sword for hire etc many things, as your karma goes bad people react like they dont give a damn...."Now move scum" etc... aren't they aware that you can have their guts on the ground in seconds before you burn to ash... they know you are but they wont fear ya, imagine some badass vamp is in town that has no mercy... try your luck and act cocky?

I completely agree, the lack of fear was something that Oblivion really missed, the fact that people were just really unfriendly when they should be careful made it look like they lacked any sense of self preservation, is just looked stupid :P

Yes fear is something that few games of the type get right... (I can't think of any actually.)

It just makes sense that as your reputation for being a merciless badass increases that people around you should start walking on eggshells so to speak.

If your a criminal people arn't going to just treat you like crap and act all cocky when they know you've killed dozens of others for far lesser transgressions.

You know, I made a DB character once, and if someone started to insult me, I ended up sneaking into their house at night and kill that person.

Suffice to say, the game ended up being pretty lonely. Too many people ended up just hating and insulting me instead of very very afraid. Even bandits should suddenly realize the error of trying to rob someone with such a reputation of murder or killing baddies. For example, the highwaymen from Oblivion should target the PC if the PC is a low level or without much of a reputation. However, if that same highwayman were to encounter the PC, when the PC is very powerful or has built up a rather known reputation, the highwayman should immediately think "Oh [censored], what did I just try to do?"

*Equips Claymore, runs swinging wildly in the direction of an NPC*

*Presses chat before the blow lands*

NPC: "Take heart the mighty hero cried, he looked up a Dagon and cursed his foul name !"

PC: " :banghead: "

there was a fear associated with vampires, but less about being physically assaulted by you (the vampire) and a fear about catching your vampirism. because if you consider it, being attacked and surviving would be worse than becoming a vampire. at least from the npc's point of view. besides, the lack of any strong karma consequences and such was mostly diliberate (because Imo, bgs did not want something that resembled fable) FO3 had karma but I don't necessarily interpret that to mean SK will as well. FO3 karma is already dated any ways, by that i mean it has become irrelevent, it became so in NV since karma (infamy) should not apply in an anarchtic world in which no one cares much more about any one but themself.

I don't say that it won't be in SK because they may strengthen the fame and infamy modifyer, but I don't think it will elicite more than a few npc dialogs such as: its you that criminal I heard about. Its hard to play the game when you have evil karma but cant engage any of the quests or lesser stuff because every one is affraid of you. it was like that in MW (when you were a vampire) in which you could not trade or interact with most any one, it was realistic but game breaking.
