I want a spear you could fight with but also throw as that is what spears were actually used as. I dream of impaling dragons.

This^^

+ it's been the most common weapon in the world for centuries so it seems weird for a medieval-styled fantasy game not to have them

To answer that question, find the answer to this one. How was the dragon, slain in "The Hobbit?"

But, to be fair to the lovers of polearms, St. George, perhaps the most famous dragonslayer, used a lance.

I said flails even though I am a stealth-based player.

I mean...
How great would it be to swing a spiked bowling bowl around your Head only to come crashing down on an opponent seconds later.

Polearms or crossbows, but leaning more towards polearms.

All of the above! If I just HAD to choose one though, it would be throwing weapons.

I'd like to see throwing weapons return: throwing knives, axes, javelins, shurikens and even flasks of poison gas or burning oil etc. would be cool.

Polearms. I don't like any of the others, except MAYBE flails. And I prefer halberds and whatnot. Spears are severely overrated.

I don't even know what I would do with a whip or nunchaku in the event of a dragon fight. Probably poo myself and wave the whip ineffectually at it.

Polearms here too. So many types of polearms which can give a broad range of variety, and also some polearms can be used in more than one way eg with its blade or spike or hook

Polearms (Spears, Halberds, Lances, etc)-Could be cool, More reach but slower attack.
Flails- I don't think so, to clunky and clumsy.
Crossbows- I like it, not really necessary though
Nunchucks- ...no.
Throwing weapons- I like this one.
Whips- Again, clunky and clumsy.

I'm torn between throwing weapons and polearms.

I'd love to have a hoplite character that has mastered a spear or a thief with a belt of knives.

I think i'll have to go with polearms, more variety.

2h Sword or polearms weapons :)

As a last resort - daggers and bow.

I dont like hammers and axes - too slow to fight them.

Polearmes, to keep melee enemies away from you. Curious, how useful would nunshucks or whips be? Seems like something exclusively for mutant turtles and a dominatrix, respectively.

I have to go with polearms. Being able to stick someone on a spit like a hog is just too appealing. But then I do love throwing weapons (axes, knives, stars and etc...)
choices...too much...daaahhhh :dead:

picked pole arms, but saw crossbows when it was too late. I would rather have crossbows than pole arms personally, although I want as many types of weapons as possible.

See that bloke over there?

Sitting on that black stump.

Can you see him.

I have plenty of arrows strapped on my back so I don't care that I cannot retrieve.

Besides I cannot get it because that black stump is on the other side of a raging river.

As a bow and arrow is not in this post I say the cross bow.

Throwing weapons. A nice hatchet or knife to throw from closer range and lodge in somebody.

Would be a good assassin weapon. their use was rather limited in Morrowind, though. A throwing knife would be nice as a sneak attack sort of weapon, whereas a throwing hatchet would be a nice medium range alternative for fighters.

Nunchucks? Are you serious? This is SKYRIM! It is based on Scandinavia i believe. Nords dont scream Martial arts or ninja to me.
I would like to see spears and polearms back. Spears were a staple weapon of the Nordic armies. Javelins would be nice too.

Also, Crossbows please.

Well i'm glad everyone is reading all my poll choices before voting <_< .... I knew i should have put polearms last...

but anyway there's a "delete my vote" button after you vote, then you can just revote

if a quarterstaff counts as a polearm, then a polearm.

according to wikipedia...

"A quarterstaff (plural quarterstaves, also short staff) is a traditional European pole weapon and a technique of stick fighting, in use from the medieval and throughout the early modern period, into the 18th century."

the words "pole weapon" and "pole arm" are synonymous,

so yes a quarterstaff counts as a pole arm
