What exactly is the story to Nehrim?

Post » Tue Aug 31, 2010 2:19 am

I understand what Nehrim is but the trailers are vague and the information mainly regards what Nehrim does. Nothing about the story behind it, i'm interesting in getting it, i'd just like to know the story first. Can anyone shed some light on the mystery?

So far, its about an empire thats suppressing magic and you have to join an order of mages that promotes freedom*... or something. I've not gotten very far.

While we're here, why is the secret mage sanctum so obvious? I'd think an illegal order would be a bit better hidden.

I don't think Hells Angels are wanted by the government. At least I hope not. And I think that's a bit of an unfair generalisation.

If Nehrim is anything like the team's previous project, Cube Experimental on Fallout 3 in terms of execution, then it'll be phenomenal. I should get downloading too ;)

(I was a bit put off when I saw someone linking Blood and Mud and Nehrim, but it seems they just share one guy, different teams. Blood and Mud was... well I'm sure it might've been a great mod if you speak German but the English version was incomprehensible >.<)

There's an http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1115758-release-nehrim-at-fates-edge-english-version/, you really should use it to discuss the mod, as you're more likely to find other Nehrim users and even the mod authors in that thread than anywhere else on the Beth forums.

Funny how people see things so differently; I thought Blood and Mud Anglais was the best voice acted mod ever made for Oblivion.

It's all fairly obvious high fantasy gubbins. Universe relies on balance of light and dark, living being are the result of the interplay of both, hence being called 'shadow born'. Beings of only light side get big for boots, abuse power and pose as gods on the world of Tyr (Nehrim is a continent on Tyr). Aeterna arrive on Tyr and cause crap, big wars blah blah Aeterna get caned and settle as oppressed minority. A group of mages sees the truth about the gods, form the order to defeat the false god ruling over them and kill him, giving them freedom. One of the order takes over the MIddlelands, becomes Chancellor, bans magic as it's a threat to his rule and imprisons the order's main leader thus leading to the present day.

That's about what I've found out so far. I think it's right anyway.
